Man that's nuts. You'd think having a level 70 off the bat would save more time than getting a lucky Sobble.

Didn't strictly mean Suicune specifically, more like OP was saying, you can grab the first good mon and beat up your allies to get out fast.

Arizona, USAT3tsuya3 years ago

Yeah I ran into the same thing and came here to see if anyone was talking about it. There's no "could" there, it's a bananas timesave to have a level 70 legendary immediately.

Just did this on a new playthrough and got to just mash A through the whole game with a Suicune. Crazy. Will probably be addressed quick.

Video proof of runs are required for verification in all categories.

Arizona, USAT3tsuya3 years ago

Hey guys. The main verifier for KTANE has been off the site for 4 months. I'll get through the backlog of submissions myself today and tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

If any active runners would like to help moderate KTANE and verify runs, drop me a line on SRC or Discord. It would be greatly appreciated.

In my honest opinion I don't think difficulty should matter for any%. Or maybe even at all due to the difficulty in verifying it. As it is right now you have to give a good guess to the difficulty from the run itself if they didn't show the dip switch menu.

The difficulty requirement and the 1CC rules are/were definitely holdovers from the way runs were done in the beginning. I would say separate categories would be the best course of action, but the game is small enough as it is. I don't see redundant categories doing much for the health of the board. I also don't see an issue with the rules being changed if the community agreed on it.

That's my .02. Would like to hear what runners think.

It appears the main mods of Tetris 99 have been gone for a couple months. If anyone would like to commit to helping moderate the game, and you are also an active runner, drop me a message on SRC or Discord.

I'm gonna go through the backlog of submissions today. It appears the main mods of the game have not been on for months. Going to put out an open call for active mods to fix it. Sorry for the delay.

I was wondering the same thing but it appears that the level 1 start variable is shown by default and the rest were filtered behind a selection dropdown. The runs are still there. Issue should be fixed now.

1: I feel like mouse control is one of the unique features of web tetris. We could split control categories, sure, but then you might as well be running a different tetris game. I'm open to polling runner opinion on this one. Let me know what you guys think.

2: Nohold is a good category. We can add it.

3: I tend to agree that 10 lines is too short a category. I added it because several people requested it, and if enough people want to run a category I would be remiss to not add it as a tracking option. If it turns out to be unpopular I have no issue removing it for something a little longer.

4: Level 1 start is a holdover from NES Tetris. When web tetris was added we simply used NES Tetris categories as a baseline to see what people enjoyed running. I agree harddrop obsoletes level 1 start as a separate category. That category will likely be merged.

Got it, updated the listed level start on those runs.

Level 1 start is not a requirement of the 300k point category.

Timing has been updated on all categories to start on countdown. The reason for this is because people without adblock / noscript sometimes get ads after pressing play.

Im adjusting the time of all runs with the previous timing as a result. If I missed your run, DM me and I'll fix it.

Added a 10 line category.

If people would like to run those categories, we could add them. Sure. If there's a run anyone has done that you would like tracked post it up here in the forums so we can add that category, because as of right now there's no runs submitted for the currently posted categories. I'd like to avoid bloating the category count of a game with no runs.

I've updated the categories to match what we currently have on Tetris NES as I thought that would be a good start point for the game.

https://www.speedrun.com/tetris99/thread/5nssy Relevant thread to the situation.

I suggest to those who ran PvP categories, make a publicly accessible Google Doc or something similar to track times as it seemed like it was a pretty active run.

Categories have been reestablished in line with site-wide rules.

@RicoDexter

Looks like it was a couple hours between your message to me and this post but I did receive your message last night.

I wasn't around to respond to it immediately, I have discord up on a server 24/7 so my current status on discord might not reflect my actual availability in responding. Was not ignoring you.

I responded to your discord message just now, hope I addressed what you wanted addressed.

Went ahead and supermodded Highspirits and friends. Thought he was already, didn't realize series mods were not mods for this one.

I've supermodded you guys on the whole series before so you can set it up according to what the community wants. Not sure why anyone would think that would stop now. If there's an issue in the future I can help out with hit me up and I'll sort it out.
