Eh, I've never really been a fan of ILs. I like being able to have strategies like the one in the video, but they can't happen in IL runs.
@Bennett is right, tweaks still can (and should) be made. Also, in the meantime you could give us more to do without modelers - for example, by programming 1ups to be able to follow Mario, players will be able to do the Green Demon Challenge, thus giving players more to do while major updates are paused.
Not really. For the most part, I've moved onto other games because there isn't really much left to do with this game until another update comes out (It's been 6 months @ILOVESMB , at least give us something haha)
Here I collect 'To the Top of the Fortress' and 'Blast Away the Wall' in one go.
The way this works is that if the player jumps forwards just before hitting the star, Mario will keep jumping forwards during the star animation. You can use this to your advantage and collect another star close by. There are many similar ways to do this, such as with a long jump or double jump. This is very precise - however, since there is minimal setup required and very little penalty for messing up, it is recommended that future RTA runs at least attempt this trick.
This reduces the best possible time to sub-8:30.
I've found out now - if you play it in private mode on your browser, then your progress is cleared each time you refresh the page.

I believe Feed Me would be an interesting game for speedrunning - and I'm surprised there isn't already a leaderboard for it in the Nitrome series. Will it ever be added?
Example run:
I want to do 100%, but I want to reset my progress so I know with certainty whether or not I get a par on a level. How can I do this?
Adding to Bennett's edit, an autosplitter or at least a built-in timer would be neat.
Also, controllers don't work and the reset save file button doesn't reset the number of lives. There's also the infinite jump glitch and several problems with sliding/falling when you shouldn't, but since they haven't been fixed yet I doubt that they ever will.
There also seems to be a memory leak - after lots of resets, the game becomes much slower.
Hopefully Bowser 1 is added soon-ish, it'd be nice to have some sort of objective other than 'just get all of the stars'. Either way, is there any rough idea of a release date for the next update?
Ah, I see your point. Thanks!
Also, do you accept friend requests on discord? I sent you one.
Really? How could the reds be faster? Also, sorry, I didn't know what else I could call it without being overly wordy.
This is a spliced run made to show that sub-9 is possible. This isn't very well optimised, but it's still much better than all non-TAS runs.
Subtitles are available! Press the CC button to view them. This is a neat (yet difficult) technique that will save time for the glitched runs - it makes use of wasted time in the Koopa the Quick star and uses it to save time later on. Shoutouts to @aaronthebigdino for the WR video!
Oh, also, Whomp King needs to be fixed. The hit registering is awful, the AI is broken (e.g. sometimes it will instantly turn around), and the player often gets hit out of bounds.
Also, sorry if this is a dumb question, but surely you can use the swimming models from other games?
