I've been trying to get back in to this game a couple of times now, but what's stopping me from enjoying it is an extremely annoying bug with the donut missions.

Sometimes the donut counter just freezes and the percent just won't go up no matter what you do! Only way to fix it to drive away from the donut zone and come back, but that's no good when your goal is to go fast.

I'm pretty sure the bug didn't exist back when I last played seriously (maybe four years ago?), but now it seems to happen once or twice on every run and it's really killing the game for me.

Does anybody happen to know if a patch of the game without the bug exists somewhere? Does anyone have any other tips on avoiding it?

EDIT: This is on PC, haven't played the other versions.
