Hello DeathRun speedrunners!

Today is a big day for the DeathRun speedrun.com page. Over the past couple of weeks, the moderators on this page have been transferring over 1000 of your runs to a new page. You may have heard of it, the Hive Minigames page. This page includes not just DeathRun categories, but categories for almost every other minigame found on Hive Bedrock.

As of right now, we will no longer be using this page to verify DeathRun speedruns. We ask that you please use this new Hive page, found here: https://www.speedrun.com/hive/individual_levels

“What will happen to the current page?” The current page is going nowhere, however the Bedrock categories will no longer be updated. Any new runs submitted to a Bedrock category will be instantly rejected and direct the user to the new site to submit the run there. As for now, the Bedrock categories will stay, but in the future they will likely be fully deleted from the old page.

“Does this change the way we submit speedruns?” For the most part, no. The new page with the DeathRun maps is set up the same way, just less cluttered with Java maps. The notable differences are:

  • Do not fill in the “In-game time” box when submitting a run. Leave this blank, it does not apply to DeathRun!
  • Top 3 PC/Console runs REQUIRE FULL VIDEO EVIDENCE from now on. Screenshot evidence will be rejected. This is to keep up with the generally higher standards of the new Hive speedrun.com site and ensure legitimacy.

In other news, I now have enacted something I have wanted to do for almost a year… There are now FOUR new categories for each map to speedrun! They all have to do with the leap cooldown setting that can be changed in custom servers. The categories are as follows: “0 Seconds” , “5 Seconds” , “10 Seconds” , “Leapless” *Note: The Leapless category will REQUIRE video evidence no matter what!

All current runs will be listed as “15 Seconds (Default)” and will still be the ones to display on the front page list of all maps. The addition of these categories will open up tons of new speedrunning opportunities and optimization, and is mostly meant for fun if you’re getting bored with the default cooldown.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m so hyped for this huge update, and I hope you all are too. Happy running, and try not to die!

I have decided to switch any mobile runs emulated with a console controller to the PC/Console category. I felt that since using a controller to play on a mobile device is like using a controller to play on console, it wouldn't be fair to the players who have to tap the screen buttons, which is overall harder.

TL;DR Any runs submitted as iOS or Android but played using a controller will be put in the PC/Console category.

Other update, Hive officially released support for PS4 and PS5, so a PS5 platform has been added to the site for any future submissions.

Hello,

I help moderate a speedrun.com site. I was wondering if it's possible to view ALL rejected runs over the entire course of the game's page.

As of right now, when I go to the rejected runs section it only shows the latest 11 rejected runs (which are all 3 or less weeks old). If I click the "Show Old" button, it shows the first 30 or so rejected runs (all of which are from 3 years ago).

I would like the rejected runs in between these time periods... But I can't find them. Is this possible, or am I missing something obvious?

Due to the release of custom servers that allows the leap cooldown to be altered, starting now I will need CONCRETE PROOF that your runs are using the 15 second cooldown. This includes at least one of the following:

  1. Video evidence (always the best method of proof). If the game took place in a private game, you MUST show that the cooldown is 15 seconds and not 14.9 or something. Include the cooldown setting displayed in the lobby chat into the video, or as a separate screenshot. I'm in the process of asking the developers to have this display in chat at the end of a run as well.

  2. Screenshot of the entire chat showing that you joined a REGULAR lobby and not a custom server. This should be done so I can tell that it's a regular lobby; for example, showing that 20 players joined and a map got voted for is a good hint. If I can't tell you weren't in a custom server, I reserve the right to reject your run.

  3. Screenshot of the entire chat AND the leap cooldown setting if you are in a custom server. If I can't tell if these two screenshots are from the same custom server, I reserve the right to reject your run.

Yes I know this sounds complicated but I really want to prevent cheating on speedrun.com. I'm working on suggesting a fix to the developers; this fix involves repeating the leap cooldown setting in chat at the end of your run. That way, you can just screenshot the end time as normal. If this leap cooldown message were to not appear, then it proves to me that you weren't in a custom server.

Just a reminder:

If you're wondering "I wonder what the best time for Xbox is" or "What's the best time with a video recording?", you can filter runs.

Click the "Filter" button next to the "Submit run" button to filter through the list of currently submitted runs. You can also check for runs submitted on/before a specific date, or even old runs from players that have since then submitted better runs!

Hey speedrunners!

I've noticed a few new people submitting their times to speedrun.com, so I wanted to go over a few reminders of what to do when submitting.

  1. Make sure you're submitting to the correct category! JAVA players: Use "All Checkpoints" or "Any% No Rulebreaking Skips" ONLY. BEDROCK players: Use "Bedrock" or "Bedrock: Mobile" ONLY. If you're unsure of what some of these categories mean, please private message me or reply to this thread.

  2. If you're submitting a Bedrock speedrun, choose the correct platform from the drop-down list! Your options are: PC, Xbox, PS4, Android, iOS, or Switch. Whichever of these you are playing Minecraft on, select it. The website sets it to Xbox by default, so PLEASE change this if you do not play on Xbox! I've had to manually change a lot of runs.

  3. In the box titled "Video link", do NOT paste links to IMAGES. That is reserved for links of video/recorded speedruns only. All image links must go into the description of your run (bottom of the submission page).

If you have any further questions, reply to this thread. Thanks!
