The category rules for 100% says that "All Permanent Fully Upgraded Armor" should be acquired. Since all armor is permanent, this would theoretically include all the upgradable armor sets in the game. However, in an actual speedrun, only the fully upgraded Zora set, Cap/Tunic/Trousers of the Wild, and Champion's Tunic are required (I'm guessing this is because they are linked to quests). It is for this reason I propose that the phrase "All Permanent Fully Upgraded Armor" should be removed from the category rules.

My second question is a random yet simple one - are runners required to activate the horse revival fountain in a 100% run? It is not mentioned anywhere in the rules so I'm assuming not, but I don't want to watch an entire speedrun just to make sure.

Thank you, ~Sibby

I was wondering if it would be allowed to press the "home" button to pause the game and then have all the time the pause screen is on be removed from the final retime. Categories like 100% and Max% require huge time investments and I would love it if you could pause for long periods to take breaks in the middle of a run. I'm not allowed more than 3 hours of screens a day, so it would be awesome if I could pause it for the day and then continue the next.

When I want to start over a run, how do I reset the game without saving the game progress I've already done? I don't want to delete my file, watch the intro scene and exit to the world map every time I do a run.

I was recently looking at bingosync.com and thought that challenges involving it would make great categories. There could be four categories - Bingo set seed, Bingo random seed, Blackout set seed, and Blackout random seed (there are more patterns you could also include like four corners or something else).

For normal bingo random seed, the objective would be to complete five-in-a-row objectives with a randomly generated seed, and for regular bingo set seed you would be allowed to set the seed to whatever you want. For blackout the objective would be to get every square.

The timing would still start when mario moves left or presses A on the world map and players would be allowed to plan before their initial start for randomly set seeds. The card generation must be recorded before the run and the seed generated must also be visible.

I really think this would be a fun category extension, but I have been wrong before. Is there anything wrong or "not fun" about these categories? As of right now I can't think of any.

For most games, low% means completing as little of the game as possible or collecting as little items as possible while also beating the game as fast as possible.

I was wondering if we could add a category called Lowest%, where you would try to achieve as low of a score as possible. Runs would be ranked by how low the score is, and, if the score is tied, the faster one would rank higher.

For example, if a run takes 30 minutes, and another run takes 1 hour, but the 1 hour run had a lower score, the 1 hour run would rank higher. If the score was tied, the 30 minute run would rank higher.

Power-ups would be allowed but would generally be avoided since the give you tons of points. I really think this would be an interesting category.

Normally, if someone ties an IL run, they will be put under the last person to get that same time because they were the second person to do it. Sometimes, however, someone can be many frames ahead of the tied run but still be placed below. I was wondering if people could still tie IL runs but be ordered in terms of how many frames away they were to the next IGT.

I recently had an idea for a new category called Half%. It involves doing the following:

-Completing at least 38 levels -Collecting at least 123 star coins -Beating the game.

The run ends upon hitting the hint movie block in peach's castle to show you have 123 star coins or more. It is called Half% because there are 76 levels in the game, and you complete half of them (same with star coins: 246 total, 123 required)

I hope somebody is able to add this category because personally I think this could be interesting.

Recently I found a TAS video of 5-2 being completed with a 449 on the in-game-time, about five mario seconds faster than the optimal 5-3 method. Here it is:

If there technically is a faster way to complete 5-2 than 5-3, why is no one going for it? I don't know if I'm underestimating the difficulty in the helicopter trick, but I really do think this could be the future of insane runs.

I recently got a pb for a World 1 RTA, and I want to submit but there is one problem. I bumped into the goomba (aka fred) and paused the timer. I unpaused once I reappeared on the world map and continued normally.

I highly doubt it, but is this a legit run?
