Yeah no for now I'll keep oob in Any% No Warp Deathless. I mean it does save some time. But also you aren't just warping across the map or to another boss room. You still have travel time across the map.

If people are just blowing the others out of the water for a "mostly intended run" I might rethink it. But for now we'll just let more people play the way they want haha.

How many places are you able to oob in pal? I know i've seen the WR TAS do a couple places. Not sure how many are viable, especially in a mostly as intended run. Since you are going to each place in sequence.

No Warps Deathless and Glitchy Deathless then? Or whatever name people want to call it, Warped Deathless, Warp Deathless, Warptastic Deathless.

Not sure if no oob needs to be added to no warps though... I think Pal is slower without access to warps overall so not sure if necessary in the end.

And obviously a 100% Pal can be easily added if anyone wants to do that.

But I did specify 100% as NTSC atm since it's different amount of grinding to get to max. Still a weird design choice, unless it's a limitation somehow of Pal. Makes final boss ridiculous.

Now that other people are figuring out how to do the tricks in pal just wanted to see what others thought. I think either way we should get rid of the "glitched deathless" category. Should we just allow pal in all categories that it works in? (not sure it fits the spirit of the no warps run including the breaking into the background) Or should Pal get it's own cats in general. Since the runs that are in glitched deathless are really just any% deathless runs if we allow that stuff. well and any% runs technically too.

Coulda sworn I went in between first and second boss, but yeah i do have an extra item at that point lol.

Very nice run. Def some scary areas in the game for damage-less lol. I could of sworn I timed this and https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxL309iSd_Opesql1oDv4Zpn8LNkVRdFmt was the quicker and safer coat of arms. But that was done a longggg time ago I forget now lol. (And I could have timed it wrong) Basically right after you get pulley. In castle is like... 25 seconds? I think the Overworld one is 20 second loss maybe more because it angles you slightly up to cross river instead of down. (My timing started once I got to the pulley at bottom of screen until I crossed the river which would put you back on track). So in reality barely a difference.

Lol thankfully out of a lot of games this one is pretty lenient on the whole death thing. Well usually. Sadly Overworld deaths are a bit annoying if not a deathwarp.

They never did update the JP version to take away the fact you can bounce. (which is a much simpler way of doing that version vs finding a prg0, well it was when I was looking anyway)

Yeah, the fact you can bounce is not a glitch. That was intended but removed later for some reason (probably because of what joe said OOB etc). Or to just be more dangerous and in the water area and forest. But using the fact you can bounce to skip sections isn't intended and doesn't work on glitchless. However that only affects one run apparently (damageless glitchless) atm. So bounce to your hearts content otherwise. Unless that somehow manages a wrong warp in no wrong warp :P

Correct. You are basically standing on phantom pixel or something to that effect. The platform you are air walking on doesn't truly exist. Only due to a glitch are you able to stand in that manner. Need at least one category where you don't have to break a controller lol.

Nice run, love to see the US area 7 strat. and first try crab.

Maryland, USAShiningDragoon2 years ago

Starts 2:01 Ends 31:29 If possible can a timer or something be on screen? Otherwise nice job.

Maryland, USAShiningDragoon2 years ago

I don't see a problem with this exactly. But I may put it up as it's own category due to the fact that I'm not sure what version it's running. It's probably set 1 or set 2 def not set 3.

Nice classic strats

Run starts at 0:44, Nice run

If submitting for set 1 or 2 For all new runs YOU NEED TO SHOW ROM VERSION. From this point on. I have no visual way of determining which is which without this.

Did you delete and remake this after not liking my response? Fine you can have your free 1st place . rom 1 and rom 2 have no visual differences and i'm pretty sure have literally no differences in general (I'm double checking this). For now you can say you got 1st place with a 30 min 42 run.

Depending on the route you need different amounts. 10/11 keys is minimum with newest strat. Without noose it's like 6, but makes final area longer and more dangerous. Old route any% is also like 11 keys. Glitchless is 10.

Only thing with gun 5 is to do the most efficient method of getting the two keys you need the whip. If you get the whip up, while you actually have a whip, it resets the current drop list, so you try to get a whip up, then kill so a key is on the screen, grab both and repeat for the farm. But if you just do it normally and avoid the gun up gun down it's perfectly fine too.

Gun 5 is just stronger than gun 3 though as well. So probably worth grabbing in general.

However for a full on new player. You should probably get the potion near the start of the game. After the first sewer section you hug the wall to the left and enter into the wooded area, there is a house that has potions. They heal you to full. The very first hospital that you find doesn't have a boss but does have an area that gives you one extra health if you go a specific way in it (I think I have a video in the slightly obsolete guide). If you are doing any% you automatically get the invis potions which is super useful to not die.

So getting the potion is +1 key, and getting the extra health is +1 more key too.

So in order to get keys as fast as possible you want to mess around with the loot drop tables. Every gun level has it's own drops in a specific order. Some gun levels only have one key some have two. So depending on the level you might only get one key if you just let it ride.

At gun level 3, which is the first "good" gun, on the 6th drop it gives a key, 8th drop a gun up, 10th drop gun down. Which then resets the gun level. So you are getting 2 keys per 16 drops. There are only 16 drops per gun level before it resets to the top. So basically the question is twofold, how to get the keys the quickest and or the easiest.

You could keep the gun at tier 4 and get two key drops if you let it cycle, but gun 4 is terrible. Or go up to tier 5 which is a much better gun but it might not be as fast to get the drops possibly. (will do new math soon)
