Do you actually have to play through the beginning cutscene of you waking up 4 times before getting the right items or can you just kinda restart during the cutscene?

Where should I get a fire flower in the speedrun? I need a way that does not deviate far from the route and is easy to pick up.

Could you possibly clip the stairs in the 4-2 warp zone and skip having to run to the end of the screen and back? Would this save a framerule?

I would love to find easy ways to beat 8-2 and 8-3, so if you have anything it would be nice to know :)
