good news, one exists now (thanks to user _o_o) :) https://discord.gg/JjCjDUKTHQ
lol, I mean if you have other good ideas I wouldn't mind implementing them myself
Since this site's based on fastest times rather than highest scores, my first reaction is to simply not add it, but I just thought of an idea: what if the leaderboard were to be based off seconds-per-sandwich? You'd just divide the length of the game by the score you got and that would be what you'd submit.
When I was fleshing out the minigame categories a year ago, I was hesitant to add Quick Draw because it has a lower limit of 0.001 that, when reached, essentially ends the category as it is impossible to get a faster run. That happened a while ago, so I've been debating whether to remove the category as a whole (because looking back it probably shouldn't have been added in the first place).
What are y'all's thoughts?
I'm pretty torn on this cause while I'd like to see high scores for all possible minigames, a lot of them definitely don't fit on this website. At least with Piano Tiles the score-based categories are still reliant on being the fastest, but a minigame like Runway is not based on speed at all, and the goal of ones like Plate Spin or Zen is literally the opposite of a speedrun. So, I don't really plan on adding those minigames until speedrun.com as a site shifts its focus away from strictly speedruns and more to general high scores.
Right now you can only submit runs for Baby and Team Battle, but what about the other minigames that are races against the clock? For instance I'd like to submit a Safe Crack run, but there are other ones too like Treasure Chest or even Beach Flag that could be ran. Also games like Eating Contest could have runs to get the best score, since even though you're not trying to get the best time it's still a race against the clock.
