Good run HIKARU. Couple tips for next time: Disable Cheat notifications in options screen to save time. Set weapon strength to very strong to kill enemies faster to save time. Also, what was that voice at 6:20? :)

I hope to see more runs from you. Good luck!

I think this is worthy of being a category here. Couple other techniques would need to be discussed in my opinion:

  • Clawgrip Quick Kill
  • Double bounce hits with enemies on birdo (5-3)
  • 1-1 jumping up to high hill using a charge jump from tweeter and/or jumping up with Luigi
  • 3-1 left of vine shortcut door (which forces you to go on ceiling to get to birdo)
  • Star Kill birdo (1-2, 2-1, 4-2)

Heck yeah! Let's go! Did you know that SMB2 is actually a reskin of Sonic the Hedgehog developed by Capcom as a grand prize for TV game show, American Gladiators, in 1996?

Oh man! Deathless until 8-4! Great run! Some of those saves you made with quick jumps were crazy! I look forward to more hard mode runs of yours.

Good job. Pro tip, set the following to save time: Game Mode: Single Character Attack Strength: Very Strong When Hit: Previous State Lock Frame Rate: Off

Category changes are now live. There are still a couple empty categories (Rokko Chan Special and Water Mode Special) I may consider removing those after a few months if no runs are submitted for em.

Great job Iggy! Looking forward to that sub hour run now.

Hello friends. I have been wanting to do this for a while. Have you guys played on hard mode? It's basically an entirely new game. The levels are so different and hard that it feels like a new experience. A new game. Very fun! All the level packs on hard are incredible! I want to to be able to congratulate and point out folks who have completed this difficulty with no cheats of course.

Right now, "Kaizo Pack" is the only category that uses hard mode. Asking folks to do all 3 level packs is a bit too much. (even on easy) I would like to add single level pack hard mode categories to make it more approachable for runners. That means new categories. However...

There are so many categories already. Many of them completely empty of runs. This feels like a waste. So I propose the following:

Remove empty categories:

  1. The Kaizo Pack
  2. All 3 Level Pack Random Character
  3. Kaizo Pack Random Character
  4. All 3 Packs Rokko Chan
  5. Kaizo Pack Rokko Chan
  6. All 3 Packs Water Mode
  7. Kaizo Pack Water Mode

Add new categories:

  1. Hard Mode SMB (any%, warpless)
  2. Hard Mode Lost Levels (any% 8-4, warpless 8-4, any% D-4, warpless D-4)
  3. Hard Mode Special (any%)

Also renaming "Kaizo" to "Hard Mode" will make it more clear what the category is. Same with changing "NG+" to "Cheats Allowed" NG+ is just confusing.

Please comment if you have any thoughts.

Lost Levels 5-3 has a pipe that you HAVE to enter to complete the stage. It can be hard for some characters. I made a guide detailing methods for all chars all difficulties. Hope you like.

Great run Iggy! I look forward to racing against this.

Unless there are any objections, I will be deleting all submissions with no video starting tomorrow (July 7, 2022)

It blows my mind that submissions were "verified" with no video proof for so long. So if you have a run with no video, feel free to re-record your run and submit again.

Thanks!

Great job Painkiller. Couple tips for future: Remove mouse from recording. Set "Lock Frame Rate" to off to reduce lag. Restart game before recording a run to also reduce lag. Set "Cheat Notify" to off to save time. Increase volume of recording.

Agreed, Luigi is worst character by far. Great job Iggy!

Yes, you can use custom settings for your runs. Refer to this thread for more details: https://www.speedrun.com/smbc/thread/abprg/1#5igqq

Hello everyone. This question has come up a few times. I myself asked this when I started submitting runs as well.

Yes! You can and should use custom settings for your speedruns. Only cheats are banned. You are allowed to go into the "Customize Weapons" menu and setup your weapons any way you like. You are allowed to go into the "More Settings" menu and set attack strength to anything you want. You can set drop rate to anything you want.

Themes, sounds, skins, coin sound effect are all up to you. You should also disable frame rate lock for better performance. All you have to do when submitting is set rules to custom on the form and you are good!

You just cant use any cheats. (Unless you are submitting a NG+ run where cheats are allowed)

If you have any questions regarding settings and rules, please ask here and I will answer. Thanks!

Congrats to SomeSchmuck for recently claiming two more 1st place times in SMB any% NG+ (Link and Simon)

I hope he continues to work towards taking all the character records.

Super Mario Bros. Trouble sleeping is a romhack of Super Mario Bros. 2 USA for NES. Created by Rohbert, it is meant to be a fun and challenging hack for experienced SMB2 players. Many tricks and techniques used in the speedrun of SMB2 will be of extreme value in this romhack. (Ladder jumps, double jumps, 1-3 clip, fast carpet)

  • 16 Levels
  • 2 Power Up Mushrooms in every level
  • 1 One-up in every level
  • 2 Required warps
  • 9 Lives to Start
  • 4 Continues

Luigi - Easy Princess - Normal Mario - Hard Toad - Very Hard

Patch an original SMB2 rom to play.

Video of Any% run:

Video of 100% run:

As usual, please do not ask for a SMB2 rom file. Use Google.

Feel free to ask me anything about this romhack. I am the developer.

As of April 2022, online Flash games are no longer a thing. However, you can still play many flash games using a flash player. BlueMaxima's Flashpoint is a popular flash player that allows you to download thousands of old flash games and play them locally on your PC for free.

Simply download the app. Search for Super Mario Crossover and you can play it at anytime!

Check out this video for a detailed explanation.
