From now on, we, the LB mods ask that you ask one of the LB mods before posting to the guides page. The reason is because there are so many categories with so many notes, and adding things that aren't notes or tutorial videos will cause the guides page to be very cluttered. This also prevents outdated or inaccurate guides from being uploaded. If a something is uploaded to the guides page, we will simply move it to a forum post if we decide it is not needed on the guides page. It won't be deleted or anything like that, just simply moved.

This is how KHFM looks like when you have the right hardware for it The information is in the annotation.

Since I am the only runner (at the time) that does runs on BC PS3, these are somethings that are worth mentioning before anyone who's willing to invest in this hardware.

To see a highlight on the hardware in which versions support PS2 disc checkout the chart in this link http://www.ps3sacd.com/faq.html

Do NOT use 80gb model of the PS3 since it runs on an emulator its best to obtain a 20gb or 60gb model Since they run PS2 games HARDWARE wise

PS3 are region locked for: Blu-Ray movie disc PS1 disc PS2 disc

PS3 is only region free with most PS3 games

In order to make the console by pass the region lock you need to have a CFW installed your BC PS3 I recommend REBUG CFW then install a program called REBUG TOOLBOX inside the toolbox go to settings and select "Toggle Cobra Mode" (this will trick the system to read JP disc PS1 and PS2)

However if you have a BC PS3 then you might have to DOWNGRADE your OFW. 3.55 is the OFW you need to install a CFW, if its 3.56 or higher it will not work

The hardware runs HOT! the GPU runs about 40C and the CPU runs about 70C From the time I have been running, it does run loud after long uses (4hrs) or sometimes random So be sure that your room is well ventilated.

YOLD is possible however to by pass this, there is a rumor to replace the thermal paste in the PS3 since Sony did a shitty job keeping this hardware running cool. My BC PS3 does have a different thermal paste so maybe thats why its still alive from the time i wrote this

The BC PS3 runs roughly 1-2 seconds faster than PS2 Slim per each load screen

The hardware does support a PS2 usb adapter in addition to, supports vibration for DS2 (via usb adapter) and DS3 controllers The hardware does DROP INPUTS after multiple attempts of running X-2 I do noticed the recent amount of dropped inputs. I read an article about this and to paraphrase

"Sony never mastered the BC PS3 hardware all they did was make it work with the DS3 controller Since it was soo costly to reproduce em, they just released the system from the way it currently runs."

They never released a patch to fix this (enjoy the faster hardware with dropped inputs OpieOP)

The game still runs normal while you press the PS3 home button, the game never goes idle.

It also doesnt load saves from a PS2 memory card (via Memory Card usb adapter) you have to manually port it to your PS3 or create one from the PS3

The frame rate does drop mostly in the same areas as PS2,but it does lag less than PS2 overall.

Thats basically it about the hardware. until further updates

In order to clean up the guides page, the leaderboard mods thought it was best to move the guides that are currently in guides page to one single post. Most of these guides are for PS3 and/or very outdated. We didn't want to completely get rid of the guides, however, as some of them can still be used for PS3 runs, or be used to see what runs used to be like in the past. Placing all the guides into one single post also gives us the possibility to back up at any time we want. In the future, if we decide this was a bad idea, we can simply delete the post with all the guides, and repost all the old guides. We feel this may also help with the confusion of "which notes should I use?", and "are these notes updated?" We will also be monitoring the notes to make sure they are always up to date, and also monitor notes that people add in the future. Basically, we want the guides page to be accurate and easy to follow. Allowing everyone to post their own notes, like we have in the past, will just lead to more confusion and clutter.

if you have any capture cards that are around $60 or less, hit me up, and I will edit the original post to add it.

Hey everyone. So recently we have had the discussion of whether a timer should be required for KH1 runs or not. First off, I will go ahead and say that timers will NOT be required on your video submissions anymore! Video proof is still required, but you don't have to put a timer on the video. This means that all you people who don't have a capture card, can finally stream directly from your PS4, and if you get a personal best, you can submit the highlight of your pb. No more downloading the vod to put a timer on it, or going through other means just to get a timer on your vod! We do encourage you to submit your splits with your submission if you are not going to have a timer on screen. To do this, you can simply take a screenshot of your splits, or upload them to https://splits.io/. Although timers are not required now, we do still encourage a timer be put on screen if you are able to. This makes verifying runs much smoother and faster for the leaderboard mods. A little forewarning, if you submit your run without a timer, it may take a few days or so to get verified. In order for us to verify a run without a timer, we will have to download the vod, then put it in a program to frame count it. This doesn't take too much time, but it does take more time than skimming thru a vod to make sure everything is fine, then hitting a verify button. As this is a new thing for us, we ask that you please be patient with us. We will always try to verify runs as fast as we possibly can.

If you are interested in streaming runs with a timer however, here are some very cheap was to start

Starting with the cheapest: https://amzn.to/2GdXSzM This is a link to a webcam. Many runners in the KH community started with just a webcam pointed at their gameplay, Ninten866, LiquidWifi, and ElJefe, to name a few. All of the used this method until they could afford a capture card. To do this, you can simply plug your webcam up to your pc, point it at your tv, then use something like obs or xsplit to stream. This allows you to easily add a timer like livesplit to your stream. If this is not an option for you, another way you can do this is to plug your webcam into you ps4, then point your webcam at either your computer or your phone, then load up a timer on either, and stream directly from your ps4. This would make it so your webcam is on stream, but it will always be pointing at your timer, so therefore a timer will be on screen.

https://amzn.to/2GmnjAu Here is a fairly cheap capture card. I can not vouch for the quality of this capture card, but it is only 60 dollars. Regardless of quality, this should be a nice step up from a webcam stream.

*Edit https://amzn.to/2GvNIfc This capture card is around 80-90 dollars so it is still a cheaper option than an avermedia or an elgato. Like with the previously linked capture card, the quality of this one can not be vouched for, but it does work for live streaming, whereas the previous one is only for recording.

PC Timers: Livesplit LLanfair WSplit

Phone Timers: MSplit FramePerfect

Thank you and good luck with your runs!

Hey guys, made a video covering all the RNG manip that can be used during this run. You can find that video here

So what is all in this video: -Manip for about 300 moogle points in the first room of Traverse Town. -Manip for 1 blizzard in the first save room in Traverse Town -Manip for 2 more blizzards in the first tranquil darkness room in Traverse Town. -Manip for a Red Nocturne Enemy Card -Manip for Moogle Shop map packs and what we get from them. -Manip for 3 Random Jokers. -Manip for a Blue Rhapsody Enemy Card.

Hopefully this video does a good enough job explaining how to do all of the RNG manip in this run. I started to rush near with editing the video just to get it out as soon as possible for people to be able to use. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything.

Just want to say thank you to a few people for helping finding manip and stuff. So thank you to Sonicshadowsilver2, deathofall84, and the rest of the KH:ReCoM speedrunning community

If he is flying away after going into his magic bubble, then it is a timing issue. Instead of doing exactly what the tutorial vids show, try doing something like a 2 hit blizzard then do a full air combo and then 2 hit air combos. It's a odd fight that you will just have to play around with different things until you find a good way for you to hit him before he flies away. But I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is a timing issue. Almost every runner has to do something different for that fight. Personally, I do a 2 hit blizzard, then 2 full air combos, then two 2 hit air combos. Takes a while to get the hand of, and as you get faster with your comboing, you will find that you have to relearn the fight because your old setup doesnt work anymore because you have naturally gotten better and faster at the fight.

Hey guys. So I realized today that I have been making quite a few videos on my youtube channel for KH1FMHD stuff. I realized that the only way people would know about any of the stuff that I come up with, or make videos about, would need to either be subbed to me on youtube or be following me on twitter. So for easier access and for archiving purposes, I made this playlist. Any time I come up with something new, I will add it to this playlist. Videos in this playlist will vary from being new strats, timings, ideas, etc. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqu2Nnd6MObSMIF1zeHmds-u7GiUApceT

Hey, just thought I would write up a quick thread to see if we could get a sword route and shield route category on the category extensions leaderboards. Or at least to judge people's opinions on adding them.

Tennessee, USARebelWatt6 years ago

Both are fine. You dont even have to stream the run. Just as long as you have a recording of it. So even a Youtube video would work. The main things you need are the recording itself and a timer.

Tennessee, USARebelWatt6 years ago

So I kinda forgot that I made this post. I really like your idea as well, Hobz. Maybe some time soon I will make a post in the KH community discord and tell people to go out and do a fight as fast as possible, but instead of it being a week, let it be like a weekend or 3 days. Something like Friday-Sunday or something.

Tennessee, USARebelWatt6 years ago

yo guys, I thought of something that might be pretty cool. let me know what yall think. I'm thinking of issuing a weekly challenge to anybody who wants to join. The challenge is just do a fight the fastest you can possibly do it and get a recording of it. So lets say that the boss we fight is Riku 2. You would have 1 week to get the fastest Riku 2 fight you can possibly get. then you just send me your video and your time and I will upload them in a spreadsheet. then at the end of the week, the person with the fastest time wins. No prizes or anything, just bragging rights. What yall think?

No grinding levels because that would just make this boring. I think it would be neat, however, if you find a strat using equipment that we normally would not use in a speedrun. Just something to see how creative people could get with strats. Timer on the video is not required because I will be watching each submission. (mostly just because I'm curious to see what people can do) Video proof is required however. This is mostly because I would like to also use this as a tool to help new runners see what other runners, around their skill level, are getting for certain boss fights.

To note to what Ninten and I said, only around half the runs for BBS would be allowed if all of them were recorded with the PS4's recording.

Tennessee, USARebelWatt7 years ago

Thats fine for people who can do that, but what about people who cant finish a run of BBS in under an hour? Will they not be allowed to submit to the LBs because they arent good enough to have a time under an hour? Good luck with winning that argument over with people.

"Change #1...." I would be ok with this if it is only for short runs, like all bbs runs, excluding all stories or 100%, like you stated. The one problem is about ps4 streaming. I find it unfair to them that this rule makes it so you can not stream directly from ps4 because of how often the ps4 skips. Though, having people retime their run while watching their past broadcast shouldnt be the solution because of the skips. It is something, at least when I was a mod, we were unaware of. The only thing we were aware of was that the elapsed timer was not equal to any other timer.

"Change #2...." I agree with that, a run shouldn't be rejected because it doesn't have a timer. We would have to decide at what point is too many skips though. If the video skips just once for 5 seconds, is that too much? I wouldn't think so. If you go by length of the run, then what would be too much for each run. 10 seconds for every hour? 5 seconds for every hour? If this does become a thing, how often will people complain about mods not doing their work because there was a BBS run that was 1 hour long that had 11 seconds of skips in it, but it was at a part that a mod didnt look at? There obviously will be mistakes. Just like there always have been. Yet, people still want to blame the mods for every single little mistake that goes on.

"Change #3..." I was in favor of game mods at one point, but game mods wont help the situation at all. The vast majority of runs are submitted under KH1 or KH2 runs while the rest of the games get very few runs submitted, on average, every day. BBS gets a little bit, but it is less than you would think, even with it being a short category. So I dont really see the point in having game specific mods. Plus, it doesnt take alot to verify a run. All you need to know is when the run starts, when the run ends, and check for skips.

"Change #3.5...." I agree that some mods need to be taken off because of inactivity. At this point, most were kept because of legacy. Toji was the one who created the spreadsheet back in the day that we used as LBs before srcom was a thing. Everybody who gets added or removed as a mod goes through him. It's just the way it has always been. Plus, most of the mods do other things that help tremendously other than just verifying runs. I wont go into detail what each one offers as I have already done that in the past. This doesn't mean that they shouldn't be taken off as a mod on the website, but also doesn't mean that they should, imo.

Considering how many runs have been verified, including mine when I was a mod which was well over 400, this hasnt caused a problem. Almost every run that I rejected was because it didnt have a timer on it, and the runner just went back, added a timer, then resubmitted it. I think, if it aint broke, dont fix it. What we have going on now works perfectly fine. It inconveniences a few people, but so does local recording or streaming runs. We arent just going to stop requiring video proof. In the end, it doesn't really matter to me which way we go because I will still either stream or local runs, with a timer. Which is the way almost all people will think.

The things you suggested are pretty much fine. I just don't see them benefiting anybody other than people who don't want to take the time to put a timer on the screen. It doesnt help ps4 runners because they wont be able to submit runs anyway with what you are offering because of the skips in ps4 recordings. If this is about trying to make it easier or benefit the runners more, then the things you brought up will only make it more difficult for more runners.

I know I didnt really offer any help with what you offered, and that is simply because I don't know of any. Though I can say that I don't think what you offered should be the end all be all rule. It's a start, possibly, but not the final solution, in my opinion.

Yes a mod removed it. The mod asked me and I said I dont really care. You make it seem like your BC PS3 run is in the same category as the other ps2 runs, and a mod didnt want people thinking that it was allowed at the time because BC PS3 runs arent on the LBs right now. If you want, go ahead and resubmit it, then post it til your heart is content, but obvious people are going to be upset when you act like a douchebag about it. You cant say you havent, because you have been for the past year about this and many other things. It doesnt matter if you get what you want, or if others get what they want, yall still find some way to complain about something.

Tennessee, USARebelWatt7 years ago

Actually, the runners of the game said they didnt want to have BC PS3s to be allowed. I personally went and asked every runner of the game, excluding you because it was obvious where you stood, and every one of them, except for one, said they do not want to have BC PS3s on the leaderboards. The one exception said he did not care. That was just for the KH1 original games. If we allowed BC PS3 then we would have to go to the other games and do the same. The people that I spoke with from other games did not want them either.

"Which is not fair and they're bias towards me " I can not count how many times I removed myself from discussion about you, when I was a mod, because I didnt want my opinion of you to dictate what I voted for. That is the reason why your run was allowed for a brief period of time. The when it was added, the runners of the game got angry about it, not just Timmi, like you would like to believe.

The effort you put into level 1 and other stuff is amazing. I will outright say that. You did a great job with finding strats and helping get the run to what it is today. That, however, is not relevant in the slightest.

Regardless of what you may believe goes on or the reason why BC PS3s are not allowed, the fact is that, at least when I was a mod, we did everything we could to not have any biased decisions. You said that you had a LB mod tell you that there was. If there really was, then you should say who it was and who is the one causing this, because obviously if this is true, then they are not fit to be LB mods. So until you give me hard evidence that someone is being biased against you, I simply can only go off what I know from experience. Which is that there are no biases.
