It sounds quite fun, I can create leaderboards that sort from 'slowest' to 'fastest' as well to simplify things. I desperately don't want to overpopulate boards, it's already heading a bit that way with full game categories constantly having to be updated or changed, so I'll come back to this idea if a few people like your post (who have a genuine interest in running this), or there's further interest from other runners.

Using the below exerpt from Dream's eventual response pastebin

"I feel like this is something important to talk about, I’ve been very withheld for a while about it all and just decided it’d probably be best to just let it out so I can feel relaxed a little more I guess. This will be a very long read i’m sure, I’m writing this in my bath at 4am on my phone so forgive any mistakes or confusing bits. I was going through some weird stuff recently but still…"

Anyway now I must share this story! Today I was really busy at work getting to work and I felt like a normal person. I looked forward to the lunch break and i was so excited to be working with a beautiful young woman right after the dinner party. What a huge surprise. i guess i thought you'd like having a dinner party. my mind just went blank. I thought i was an ordinary girl. What an awkward idea. then i thought it was time to go to the bathroom. I thought that there would be someone or something for me in the bathroom which makes me feel so good. I was confused really, i mean I don't really know if that is right 😤 (well i know i was so nervous i did really hard of finishing the picture 😎 ) then i thought i was going to meet the man next door. well, so he said he liked my outfit (just something i usually wear the evening before as well) I looked him up and she said that the

@YUMmy_Bacon5 That's really agreeable, I can definitely see why people are added to newer/similar games, but in some cases people will solely seek out mod positions

Mate, put simply if you've never run a game I'm not sure how you can be expected to maintain a leaderboard correctly. I don't want to come on too hostile, but if you're here to ask if you can keep getting mod positions without running the game and avoiding bans then please, please don't

Some good points raised in this, I do however strongly disagree with 1), being able to add someone as a moderator to every game in a series is something only site staff should have any power to do in my opinion, it would almost never be necessary and could cause a myriad of problems - the time spent doing it manually is the price I suppose. With Super Mario 64 ROM hacks I'm sure, if the time spent doing it is too great, you can seek site assistance, it's just such a unique case. 2) is useful, but sounds useful only in the context of giant game series, Ig the changes you've listed are geared entirely towards moderation changes but even in this case I cannot endorse having someone moderate '150 games' because they're similarly engineered, it should generally always be done by a player base.

I held the Any% record for Paint the Town Red (default category) for a little over a year, since been beaten through new strategies but it epitomised the end of a long grind for an eventual record.

I was also the first person to pull of a complicated OOB glitch that's a fundamental part of any% in a different game now, I won't go into it too much but I encourage all glitch hunters to keep pushing, there's an almost endless series of logic breaks to follow.

I know it's a big ask, but I feel like adding milliseconds timing for What Never Was would be a good improvement, at least for Any%. Currently, 7th, 10th and 2nd are tied, there's also not an in-game time that simplifies time to decimals so I don't see why not.

Another neat little thread for free/fairly cheap games to speedrun is this: https://www.speedrun.com/talk/thread/7e6qk thread, in addition, there's the advertisement thread https://www.speedrun.com/speedrunning/thread/hl23s but I have more faith in the first thread for low-cost games.

@Quivico You're completely right, that definition didn't occur to me

Of course! blind speed runs are extremely impressive anyhow because they show a monumental understanding of the gameplay, sequencing, audio cues and indications. Some games might be more difficult/prestigious to play blind but that shouldn't make you feel unable to try it for a certain game.
