Oh yeah, he cheated on 2 flash games:
-You Have To Burn The Rope, Any%. https://www.speedrun.com/yhtbtr -Vox Populi, Vox Dei, Any%. https://www.speedrun.com/vpvd
His runs were removed already but he beat the WR by like half a second on both (Which is a lot in these games). He said he used some weird "browser optimizations" where the browser speed would make the game run a lot faster. It turned out that he actually sped up both of those runs, as the games played offline were still slower than his runs.
So because he cheated on both of these, by saying he did a really weird thing to go faster, I'm certain that he also did the same on this game. He just modified the game files, and then said it's some kind of frame perfect glitch with super RNG required. In my opinion the run should be removed, but you're the mod of course so it's your choice.
Oh, and here's his WR for Vox Populi. https://www.speedrun.com/vpvd/run/meow1n8z (He deleted all his runs apparently) I don't have access for the run of You Have To Burn The Rope, as I'm not a mod of that game.
Hey, I thought I would let you know that TooC, the current WR holder, has been discovered to cheat in another 2 games. He got 2 fake WRs by speeding up the runs. I don't know much about the game, but if nobody managed to perform the glitch except for him, then there is a high chance that he might have modified the game files, in order to perform that weird glitch and get WR by half the time than 2nd Place.
Hey, just telling you over here that the WR by Ashwani was stolen from me. We found out he pretty much stole or sped up every single run he did. You can compare both runs and see that they are exactly the same, even the start has the same time of "12.5" with the message outlined by the mouse below it. He probably did the same for the hurdles run, but I didn't check that one.
Also, I would like to ask if I could be a mod for this game, but in the case that I can't, could you fix what I mentioned? Thanks.
Hey, I noticed my run and others are wrongly timed because of the rules: It says time starts on first frame of movement, but because the first movement is off camera, you don't actually know when is the first input for each player, so all those 9 seconds runs might be longer/shorter and we can't actually know. I think the rules should be changed to start the timer on a frame that can actually be verified. Like, starting when you press skip on the first cutscene.
Also, I would like to ask if I could be mod for this game. But if I can't be, then could you fix what I mentioned? Thanks.
What difference does it have with the original?
But dude, I'm asking you why can't we use an unofficial version like the one I used? It's exactly the same as the original.
Hey, I know I just got my run rejected because the original version doesn't exist anymore. But why can't we use other unofficial recreation?
The version I used is pretty much identical to the original, at least the first level that I ran, compared to the other runs on the leaderboard, so I don't see why it couldn't be used if it's pretty much the same.
I'm probably missing something, but just wanted to ask this and, in case it isn't possible to bring it back, to at least have an explanation here as to why these leaderboards don't accept runs anymore, so that anyone else that considers doing a run in the future knows they aren't available anymore.
Hi. This is how the glitch works:
Basically you tap the jump button (the up arrow key) extremely lightly and extremely fast. The character should jump more lightly. When you notice that, you press jump again inmediately while on air. That should do the double jump.
It's similar to how you play a staccato note on piano: You just press and release as fast as possible without making too much force.
It's really hard to get it right, so you might have to do lots of tries until you can get it consistent.
Also, if you have discord, consider joining the Interland Speedrunning Server, the glitch is better explained there and there are also some other tricks/glitches mentioned there.
I really agree with this. The category served no purpose and didn't involve any effort or anything worth keeping it. I think this is for the best too, it will definitely improve the quality of the leaderboards, even if it means less runners.
Hey I just did a run of World 2 Level 3 Any%. Because of Any%, the rules say it starts on the first frame the screen fades in. This is because of a glitch that allows to start playing before the bunny appears.
In JJR's WR, the time starts when he begins moving. He doesn't show the screen fading in, and even if he did (or if you counted the very start of his video), his time would be a 22, not a 21.
My run doesn't show the bunny starting to run, as i used the glitch, so both runs can't really be retimed the same. Yet mine follows the timing rules accurately.
So could you guys check this and fix it if possible? Thanks.
Hey, I'm new here and I was wondering if the glitches are possible on the web version? And if they are, are they actually useful? Like the pause glitch for example, it would actually waste time as that version doesn't use an in-game timer, so the time during the pause would count too.
Hey I was wondering because there are some runs in here that don't have a video: Is that allowed or is it a mistake? How do you guys know if the runner actually got that time if he didn't provide any evidence?
Hey, so in the levels leaderboard there is a category separation between IAP and noIAP, but then after that there are another two variables that have the exact same premise. In other words, the categories are duplicated, so the variables should be eliminated.
Also, could you please add some rules? I just did a run but I wasn't sure when the timer was supposed to start/end, I just copied what the WR holder did. Thanks.
Hey, I don't know if I'm retiming it incorrectly, but I just checked the WR for Tutorial%, and it turns out the time is actually 0.633, instead of 0.360.
It's a huge difference of time in the leaderboards, so can you guys check it and fix it if It's correct? Thanks.
@Quivico Yeah, but that wouldn't work if the user uploads the videos unlisted. Also I would get notifications for everything the runner uploads, when I only wanna know the runner's PBs.
@Garsh Yeah, it would be great, but I know the site staff has another priorities right now that they are working on, that's why instead of requesting it I was just asking if there was an alternative to do this.
@hahhah42 Again, I'm not requesting to add the follow user feature to speedrun.com, I'm just asking if anyone knows of an indirect/unofficial way to get it, because some people managed to do this before: There is the unofficial app, in which this feature sadly doesn't work right now, and there was also a discord bot that could do this, but it's retired at the moment.
Hi, as the title suggests, I was wondering if there is any app or program that allows you to get notified when a certain user submits a new run, given that speedrun.com doesn't provide this function at the moment.
I know about the unofficial app, but even though it says it does this, it doesn't seem to work on my phone (don't know if it's a problem of the app itself or if it's something on my end).
Does anybody know if there are any other programs/apps that might be able to do this? Maybe a discord bot? Thanks.
Hey, why does the timer has to end when the gnome turns into a statue? Can't it just be when the reset button starts moving from the left to the center of the screen? I say this because I got a WR recently but I pressed restart way too fast after getting it, so the gnome didn't turn into a statue.
I think changing the final time would make more sense and also a lot easier for mods and runners to retime the runs.
Other option would be to time it by the actual milestone you need to get i.e in the 500 category, the timer ends on the frame that shows 500, independently of how long it takes for the gnome to land and die after reaching that point.
