Do you have a text summary of where you think time should begin and end?

No, Any% is used very often because SDA copied it from Metroid 2k2, and SDA runners used it in GDQ marathons.

It is pretty dumb to have "%" anywhere in your naming if your game doesn't have actual listed percentages.

@Eunos explained my point.

@PharaohLawnFeevr: kirkq does.

But yeah, the issue here is that Level 0 start is naively being generalized, but to get good times in it requires you to use a completely different style of play. That's the essence of what makes a good category separation.

I said it before, the the filters are insufficient unless you turn off the setting that runs with different values for the Level Start variable obsolete each other.

With that setting on, then if a person gets a Level 19 run, then his Level 0 run vanishes from the board, since it got obsoleted!

Probably a bad idea to have runs obsoleting each other on that variable, due to the level 0 hype.

Or separating Level 0 back out makes a lot of sense, if you're worried about bloat.

Anyone who intentionally falsified a run 'to test the mods' should be wiped from the boards.

If you don't have the time to make video proof that you did a run, I doubt you have time to be a proper mod.

I assume their focus is going to be on the egregiously bad stuff, and not fine tuning games that are run reasonably. Assuming that, I'm glad of this.

The reason is perfectly valid. The game's name is deliberately chosen to cash in on Nintendo's marketing, while having none of the traits people associate with Nintendo's games.

Don't add categories with no runs. Ever. That's your solution.

Be ready to add categories, but don't have empty ones.

Wait if someone else lists the same twitch account it actually bars you from putting it in your profile?

Without any sort of verification measures that seems like a really bad idea.

Honestly I wouldn't add categories for every obscure 80s computer until someone did a run for them. But when the versions for those platforms are menaingfully different, I wouldn't hesitate to have categories.

For Ultima Exodus they put up different categories to handle that. It's a valid option.

United StatesPresJPolk7 years ago

Want to see this category on the board? Route it, post some runs, get people in here!

United StatesPresJPolk7 years ago

Is swordless low% harder than straight low%?

You get the wand in swordless. Cuts a lot of hits out of fights, and no gannon.

The reason I bought this game was that I wanted to try ET-style manipulations, but somebody already did it. :)

That person has no runs submitted here.

Timmi, this was useful to me. I know now that if Jesse_Lee_Porter asks for a category, I will unconditionally say no.
