"Timer starts when you gain control over Carl Johnson and ends when you complete everything in the game that counts towards game completion. "
Quarry only gives percentage for asset completion, and not for every individual mission. So for the purposes of 100%, completing the first mission 7 times and completing all 7 missions is exactly the same, as only the asset completion matters.
Trucking duping doesn't work, it just completes the mission and the next time you start it starts the next mission. Tested on PS2 with 7 dupes (8 mission instances), which would complete the asset if it worked the same as Quarry.
I tried Doberman yesterday and it didn't work. But Trucking is also not 100% consistent, so maybe it could work sometimes? Definitely requires testing.
For reference, duping Doberman once would skip Los Sepulcros and duping twice would make the game impossible to progress, as Reuniting the Families won't start. That is, if duping Doberman doesn't crash the game OpieOP
The Quarry Dupe, using the phonecall.
This method only works for the quarry and trucking marker for whatever reason, as those markers are weird.
Trucking duping seems to not work. More testing needed.
I did a quick check on how IGT works in the DS version and I've found that
- IGT is not incremented during loads
- IGT is not incremented while inside the safehouse
- IGT is not incremented while watching a cutscene
- IGT is not incremented while in the pause menu
I don't know if the PSP version changes anything but I doubt it does
Patrick: That's already implemented in the current route. Watch Vegeto's 1:11:07 PB (at 37:00 in the video)
A different setup, using the patterns on the ground as a reference
Found another way to get the 30k ammo that should work with all rampages.
Start the rampage when you start saving, save, reload, done.
Gael talked to me today about the possibility of grabbing the M16 rampage during Cutting the Grass to dupe Under Surveillance, while still using the current strats to dupe T&T. This is obviously extremely risky, but I decided to see if it was possible.
It is. (Excuse my poor execution)
The M16 replay I made was slightly too short and the positioning was slightly off, but it could still be activated, so for purposes of the demonstration it doesn't really matter.
I made it just in time, and the replay made Curly glitch, just like Misty can glitch in Luigi's Girls.
Now for the Under Surveillance dupe. Since you're going to die to pass the mission, I skip all weapon pickups. After Paparazzi Purge the weapons you need are given to you: Grenades in Silence the Sneak, Rockets in Arms Shortage. The only problem is Liberator, but you can get M16 during Arms Shortage as well.
What I do is simple. Create a Rocket Rampage Replay at the second position, and go to the first position, where I wait until 40s (could wait 50s but I wanted to be safe) before Sal exits the club. Then I pick up the rampage, and finish the mission with rockets. Then I proceed with the dupe and kill myself. I misjudged the Banshee's health and ended up losing around 10 seconds having to drown. Then I rampage start Paramedic, and complete Paparazzi Purge with rockets. Then just proceed as usual.
In this video I start Last Requests at 00:10 in the video and start Pay Day for Ray at 7:43, with a Sayonara Salvatore start time of 19:35 -> 7:33 total Vegeto's PB starts Last Requests at 30:20 and ends at 37:49, with a Sayonara Salvatore start time of 10:42 -> 7:29 total
Considering I lost about 10 seconds failing to kill myself and I had to wait 7 more seconds in Sayonara Salvatore, I'd say at first glance that these strats are slightly faster. However, I think more testing should be done, preferably by someone with better execution than myself.
edit:
Vegeto uploaded a video of the complete route until now, up to the end of Arms Shortage
Toyminator skip.
For comparison, Adam's PB has a 3:37 Toyminator, with his gold split being 2:00 (not sure how accurate this is). Toyminator in this video is a 1:33, with a sub-optimal rampage.
Rampage start either Trial by Fire or Uzi Money. When you complete the objective, the mission and the rampage will both pass (as long as the rampage didn't fail before the mission objective timer starts). The counter for the rampages doesn't increase, but completing all other rampages gives you the percentage (with a 18 or 19 out of 20 counter).
In addition to this, it can be used along a remote item pickup to skip the drive to and from the flamethrower in Trial by Fire, as can be seen in
Note: If the mission fails, the rampage also fails. Note: Simply picking up the flamethrower remotely doesn't spawn any triads in Hepburn Heights. The Uzi rampage is spawning the triads.
Game crashes when you activate Vigilante during the mission.
Information taken from Bang's stream:
- No idea
- Seemed okay
- Yes, some cutscenes are unskippable. Calls are skippable.
- Bang crashed 4 times in a row in Home Coming, which seems to be consistent.
Other changes include CJ's ability to run up walls to climb them, autosaves and checkpoints. Planes and helicopters seem to handle more like GTA V. Some speedrun strats didn't work, but that may be just Bang not doing them correctly. Sliding doesn't work the same way, as it requires you to shoot while sliding.
Starting a sub-mission (Taxi, Firefighter, Paramedic and Vigilante) right after savewarping seems to not change the on_mission flag value. This allows savewarping in those missions, similar to the method described in http://www.speedrun.com/gtavc/thread/z83eh, but involving no rampages. The timing is precise from what I've tested but you can try again right away. Practical applications of this glitch would be to use savewarps during Taxi (not Paramedic, as health does not get replenished after every level), or, if it works without crashing, duping Taxi fares, as seen in the video below.
edit: Duping taxi fares work. I saved after 98 fares (not sure if the save is needed but I did it for safety) and did the last two normally. Took just 67 minutes, but could easily be 55 or less with good execution and RNG.
edit:
A perfect Taking out the Laundry started with a rocket launcher rampage is faster than duping + failing it. This means that In Gael's route you'd have to get another rampage that's not the rocket rampage, which shouldn't be a big deal.
edit:
Bangaranghun: i've tired your any% 3 vans rocket strats Bangaranghun: got softlocked later on cuz the rampage runs out during the pickup Bangaranghun: and then you finish it and start it again at the same time --> softlock
Duping it is.
Evidence Dash works: (I was unable to complete Arms Shortage and start ED within 2 minutes, if it's possible then that should be done instead of this)
This leaves you without any ammo though. Would a trip to Phil's be worth it during Liberator?
Rampage starting Uzi Money can't be used to dupe Toyminator, however, the rampage and the mission fuse together. The timer for the rampage becomes unified with the mission (Starts at 2:30 as soon as vehicle is entered) replaces whichever gun you had from the rampage with the Uzi, and passing the mission displays the "RAMPAGE COMPLETED" message on the screen, as well as giving you 30k ammo of the rampage's weapon.
However, in the stats the rampage doesn't count as passed. Could've been a neat trick for 100%.
edit: This trick has been confirmed to work: http://www.speedrun.com/gtaiii/thread/6gbk3
Here's a video of the route mamamia described:
I also tried duping Salvatore's Called a Meeting, but it just fails one instance of the mission while the other stays active.
edit: Here's a video of Jeremie's Paparazzi Purge dupe applied to the current route (could get the rampage replay during Sayonara Salvatore):
I just tried it on Running Dog and I couldn't create a fire during the mission. However, the same replay would create a fire after the mission had passed. Weird.
