FlagHunterV12, I would just like to add that a lot of CRTs sold in Europe support NTSC, so you might want to keep looking for that. I know it's often not the case, though; I have two PAL-only CRTs that I picked up for free and are now collecting dust, because it can be hard to tell what a set supports before actually trying it -- especially when the brand is obscure and the manual was thrown out years or decades ago.
Alternatively, your CRT probably supports RGB over SCART (all of mine do), so if you RGB mod your console (not cheap or simple, though), there is a good chance that would work as well.
Sorry for cluttering notifications, but I thought this might be of interest to OP. :)
It would still be impressive, but I feel it would be against the spirit of blindfolded speedrunning (although I'm not sure how other games deal with this). In my mind it should be you and your intellect versus the game, with nothing but game audio to rely on.
Even though that might technically be permitted (I don't know), be advised that leaderboard moderation is time consuming, and that mods are doing it for free. I would not submit runs that have never been a PB.
Unzipping on Mac is super easy, just double click any zip file and deal with it like a folder.
Tjenare, pellsson. Wow! Thank you so much for that great and very educational reply! :)
It's a front loader, and the guy says it includes a "new power supply for the Norwegian power grid". So based on what you're telling me, I'll probably go for this one and start looking for a free CRT. :D
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Hi, first of all I hope I am not breaking any forum rules. If so I am ashamed.
Anyway, NTSC consoles are hard to come by in Norway. I found an ad for a "US console" that apparently has been modified to also accept PAL cartridges.
I am aware that PAL consoles that have been modded to play NTSC games are not eligible for speedruns as the framerate will be messed up.
Now, do any of you know whether I can speedrun SMB (with an NTSC cartridge) on an NTSC console that has been modded to also work with PAL cartridges? Will it have any effect at all on how it runs?
Also, do you think it will cooperate with a PowerPak? Thanks! :-)
