I can't comment on this particular record (i'm sure @Grav will), however most records that allow EMU only allow particular emulators. Genesis Plus GX (GPGX) is recommended / permitted for most Genesis records that allow EMU due to its high accuracy. I'd highly recommend you try it if you are looking at runs for multiple genesis games :)

Sorry if i'm reviving an old thread but I just wanted to say that the above post is great advice. I've been trying to put a run together for this game for a while now on EMU and I had some early problems. Basically I was using snes9x and it just wasn't accurate enough. FPS etc was perfect, however I was losing over 2 sec per section due to accuracy problems! I switched to BSNES and the timings are now accurate. I've used emulators for a long time but I never understood the importance of accuracy until I started to attempt speedruns.

@AsP00n I don't understand how your comment is relevant to when and from where the timer is started? @Faro the timing is different. Restarting from a "new game" rather than a "retry" adds over half a sec (test it yourself you will see). I'm not saying any of this to grab a WR or whatever, I just think there should be consistency across the records for when the timer starts. All other records start from menu and not a retry. Also I wanted clarification because I don't want to waste time trying to set a time with the timer started in the wrong place!

The rules for "First death" under "Normal game" and "Apocalypse mode" currently have the same rules yet the records timers start at different times! "Normal game" records (and every other record) start on accepting a "new game" as per the rules. However the current records for "Apocalypse mode" are all "retrys" not "new games" as per the rules and "normal mode". Unfortunately I only found this out as I was about to submit a run for 2nd place on "First death (Apocalypse mode)" at 4.68 and discovered mine starts from a "new game" and the current records do not! So now i'm wondering is my record a new WR or inadmissible?!?

Yeah I know it does, GOG is great. There are just some people that might not want to use steam for whatever reason. Also I was hoping to have a working method for all versions in case differences are discovered. I checked the reg on a clean run on the latest patch and my reg looks the same as yours in the imgur link above. I can only assume this is a legacy format from an older version? I will try to find out what version it came from just out of interest as it my be useful to somebody in the future. I've just always used the same save file without looking much further into it! I will do some more testing now when I get a chance and post my findings. Initially however it appears that even the latest version accepts all of the stats from the reg above!

That is interesting, I didn't know that. However the .reg method works! I export / import the entire Flipfly entry as a .reg file. Reset the game for level 0 or import the .reg again if I need level 25. Wouldn't this be easier to share? Also the .reg is suitable for all platforms on pc (not just steam) so might help users on the GOG version etc? I have checked that the .reg method is compatible between versions and is transferable between machines.

Hi all. I was thinking that it might be useful to upload a save file to the resources section past level 25. Obviously this helps for switching between the 0-Max level records. I have a suitable backup however this game is saved to the windows registry, hence the backup is a reg file! Obviously this could be used in malicious ways so as a new user I wouldn't expect the file to be trusted. Perhaps it may be worth somebody looking into though as I couldn't find another save anywhere for this game!

Am I right to assume that "survival" means "longest run" on "apocalypse" mode? Also if it does could somebody (I assume AsP00n?) please edit the titles / rules to reflect this?
