I mod the game Steep Slope Sliders for the Sega Saturn. Much of the game is based around setting the fastest time in specific levels. We use the in-game timer for individual level runs.
When I took over as mod, the ban on replays was already in place. It would seem pretty much every racing game on the site bans replays. For Steep Slope Sliders, I am failing to understand why it matters. We allow emulation, provided the runner uses the correct version of mednafen. So if we're already being that flexible, should we allow replay footage of IL runs? As far as I know, there is no way to alter the performance of a replay in-game. Just camera angles and such.
I appreciate your input and look forward to any responses.
Thank you Sun_tzu!! The physics in this game are at a fun level of unpredictable. Trying to get four good laps in a row is harder than it looks on video, especially on this track.
Sorry for the belated response. I didn't know soft resets was commonly allowed in other Saturn runs, so I see no real reason to disallow it here. That's an easy rule change.
Hello all, I'm PandaMonium. I recently took over as mod after this game went inactive for about a year. You will see that the individual level runs are expanded to include the secret stages, and splits categories for Alpine and South Pole. Rules for a full-game run are the same, just re-worded for clarity.
I plan to use the Half Pipe stage to "measure" the speed of each character. Look out for that post in the coming days.
There are four secret tracks including Asteroid. They're not outstanding in terms of design, but are for sure worth including in the IL list.
Hi guys. It's extremely possible that I'm missing something. Couldn't find this problem on Google so I decided to ask you guys.
I'm doing some any% practice runs. When I buy Warp Dance, it doesn't appear when I dance. It shows up in the inventory menu, but it doesn't pop up when I dance, just skips over the page it's supposed to be on. Am I supposed to get something else first? Thanks in advance.
Does any port of Spider-Man 2000 have considerable disadvantages over others? I understand loading times might be quicker on N64 or PC but does this give such a great advantage over other platforms that those platforms are not viable for speedrunning?
