As of right now we only go to 10 floor because when the game was at its most active, that was all people were interested in going fast on. Floors highscore is there as a leaderboard, but if people would be interested in 15 floor or 20 floor categories, I would gladly add them!

Just got time to add them. Also, would you consider the horde exploit in Ad Free as a glitch?

Vermont, USAOreoSR1 year ago

I'm probably going to set NG+ as a misc category just because it does skip quite a big section of Finale. I'll try to get it up by the end of the week!

Vermont, USAOreoSR1 year ago

Never really thought about doing NG+ categories just because I didn't have enough experience with the differences between normal and NG+. I'll definitely experiment with that and probably add it. Also, I saw some of your run and will get to verifying it soon, but Fresh File is just normal Any% (fun fact, as long as you don't finish Story before resetting, you don't need to clear data as it starts back at the beginning of Story)

I think a glitchless category should be made, especially with the recent glitch discoveries. I will get it set up in the next few days when I have time.

your run will get verified whenever a mod has time to do it. it could take up to 2 weeks depending on our schedules. we have lives outside of verifying your speedrun.

Vermont, USAOreoSR1 year ago

hey @Lpcmcsus is there any way you could send a video of this so we know what you're talking about? it sounds vaguely similar to glitches that we have already discovered. thank you!

don't let that discourage you from running, again a good time is still possible and if we can really see the difference in times a console split may be necessary. nobody in the community has been able to see how much different switch is yet

chances are that switch would run slowest out of any console, but no official comparison has been done. it's likely that pc is fastest (depending on pc hardware), followed by xbox series consoles, xbox one consoles, and then switch. however, a good time is still possible on any console with really good gameplay.

Mipha and Luke cleared it up pretty well, just want to reiterate that the discord is always open to join and ask questions in, and mine and Mipha's discord usernames are linked to our src pages if you wanted to reach out more directly.

The actual fastest possible run is 9:55.200, segmented by Octo using the best IL levels and very good menuing. Level transitions could theoretically be better, so a 9:54 would be possible. It will never humanly go below 9:53, and will probably never reach a 9:53. 9:54 is as low as humans could theoretically make it go, and 9:55 is the most reasonable possible time humans could get. With a TAS, a high 9:53 may be possible. Here is the BTT based off of what humans have done so far.

Most CE runs can be done with a completed file. A lot of them are timed differently than when the achivement appears, but the route is the same. Check the rules for the individual runs to see what is required. For example, Chirp requires the achievement to show up, whereas something like BSoD has you go to where you would get the achievement, but is timed differently. It's category dependent.

Vermont, USAOreoSR3 years ago

Having more FPS does not make anything faster. In animation, a 12 FPS animation is no faster than a 24 FPS animation, but you need double the frames animated. The higher the FPS, the smoother the animation. That's all that would happen, so it would be useless as far as timesave goes. Also, as Mipha stated, altering the game files is against the rules in almost any game, whether explicitly written or not.

this is the setup I use: little more complex but I find it to be more consistent also ignore the music lol

Touchscreen is banned for all runs on main leaderboards but can be submitted here. Rules are the same as they would be on the main leaderboard, but touchscreen is allowed. Reason it's banned from main categories is because it allows for really easy movement and would create an unfair divide between players.

The Collection is only on Steam. The swf files for the Flash games and a flash player can be found on their respective game pages here.

Alright, edited the category rules to confirm what counts as a level completed.

I still don’t really know what to officially count as completion. Required stars would work, I guess. It would allow office skip, but then there’s the debate over whether that truly counts as finishing the level. In my opinion, office skip is fine for All Levels, but not All Objectives as that would skip the last 3 chapters, therefore skipping their objectives as well.

Vermont, USAOreoSR4 years ago

I was also wondering that. I know that for any levels with stars, you can exit out after getting the required amount. However, I have no idea if you can do any of the level skips, most notably office skip. It does count the level as complete, but doesn't truly finish the level. Guess we can see what AuroraAri has to say and go from there!
