Hello!

Since before I joined here the rules has always stated that the time starts from "when you see the menu". How much of the menu has never been specified. I believe we need to clarify that in light of the news strategies we have started using, such as switching character before the menu appears.

My suggestion is that we simply change it to the first frame "GO TO" is seen on.

I've been comparing some of the submissions and I can see that there is a small variation (which might be caused by inputs?) in the number of frames between GO TO and CD PLAYER.

I didn't go through all videos, but from what I've covered it seems that the most common outcomes is either 9 frames or 4 frames.

If we can agree on this detail, I would say that we leave everything as it is and only re-time old runs if there is a "close competition" in terms of leaderboard positions.

Another alternative that we could use that does not involve the menu is when Dave goes into attention. It would be closer to a 30 frame change, from the same videos I checked the time between Dave goes into attention and the moment GO TO appears is between 18 and 20 frames.

Anyone seen this clip? I think it you'd have to be two players to achieve it "anywere" but it seems like it should be possible to hover fly nudge a ledge to zip upwards?

I noticed the doors has different outros, not sure what makes the stars run/flash fast but it makes the door shake instead of counting down the stars!

3 frames after Dave make full stop with his feet in "attention" there is a 4 frame window to hit A.

Pressing A early opens the switch kid menu without using the machine, pressing A late opens the menu after you're done with the machine.

After hitting A you need to wait 3 frames or more before pressing start.

Pressing start too early just means you have to press start another time.

What is it that makes the Red Tentacle ignore pool drainage? Sometimes I can turn the water on/off and the tentacle reacts the same (goes to check the dark room). But at other times he ignores everything, even turning the circuits off.

Simply put, would blowing the house up count as killing the other two characters after showing off the "secret hamster sequence"?

I think it makes sense, so I wouldn't mind allowing it. What do you guys think?

We've got a run submitted for hamsteak% utilizing the 2-character glitch. Should we allow it or not?

In a speedrunning sence, it's faster to use the glitch and still achieve the original ruling. But looking at it from another perspective it might be against the initial idea of the category because you're not killing the 3rd character.

I'd love to hear your thoughs on this since you've recently been active @ZeroJanitor @noisepolice @ShesChardcore

I suggest changing the timing method to SDA timing, because it is easier to verify the character sprites apperance/dissapearance in comparison to the menu jump where the cliff position gives a variated number of frames.

It is also the method we've been using even before the board was requested.

Hey I got a famicom cart of solstice.

Does anyone know how that version is different? The last staff piece seems to be located somewhere else than the top of the tower. Also there is some really werid potion spawns I've never seen before..

I got the cart because I'm using a RGB famicom now, but I guess I'll have to keep using the convertor sadface

I'm just curious about all the "additional info".

Are they all necessary? Like Copy Protection Modification Steel Door

I don't know how copyright protection would affect the run, or what it is at all. Neighter do I understand what modification is. If you're running on NES / NTCS, what differences are there? There's no "sub categories" in Zelda:ALLTP between NTCS and Jap 1.0 which has huge differences, so why bother with it here?

And what is modification? When would it ever be viable/allowed?!?

In ANY% you're pretty much allowed to do any route, right? So why bother stating if it's with steel door or not?

I suggest simply removing all those confusing things from the NES NTCS Any% board.

Hey! When is the "precise" start of timer? Is it the B command that cancels the intro? Or is it when the characters turn their heads? Or isn't it until you isseu the first command?

Would be nice if that was explained in the rules.

Not sure if it's called "hundred second" or what. But is there a reason to why we can't chose it when submitting runs?
