Hi ! I submitted a run for SGW2 which used a lot of new strats, saving a lot of time! I was planning on making a tutorial but I never got around to it, so if you have any questions don't hesitate! First some general advice, use the pistol whenever possible, it's very OP and way faster than the rifle. You can also switch to the pistol to skip the "bolt action" animation after shooting, allowing to start sprinting immediately. Also, you can use F9 to reload the last checkpoint instead of going through the menu ! (it will refill your health but not stamina) Most of the strats are pretty obvious by just looking at the run, since it's a lot of running and avoiding fights, but some might be harder to get (especially the Oobs in 1-2 & 2-3, the "patrol skip" in 2-1 where you rush into the bush, the rush through the square with the wall jump in 3-3...). If you're trying to replicate some stuff but having a hard time, pay attention to the details of the movement, where I crouch, sprint, what angle I use, what lines I take etc... It can be a bit precise sometimes, but once you have a setup it's easy. Again, don't hesitate to ask if you need more info :)
I also did a run of the DLC, Siberian Strike: It would be nice to add it as a category :)
Unfortunately even if you get to 13000 points that way you'll still have to go through all the "captures" to trigger the final one, I've tried :p It works like that for the other regions too
Skips the first part of the corridor, it's not TOO bad :p
Also I found you can go from the bridge to the cable car Out of bounds, but I could not find a way back in :(
I looked into the Episode 2 clip, it's definitely affected by framerate, as soon as I limited it to 60 I went through no problem. I made a video to illustrate :
If you mean getting all those : https://imgur.com/nWS400B good luck ever finding someone mad enough to run this xD
I made this video to show stuff I found that didn't make it into the run, if anyone is interested one day :
Also, note that you can use F6 to reload last checkpoint, you don't have to kill yourself. It would have saved quite a bit of time if I realized that before :p
So, since someone is actually running this game now... Here's 3/4 of a skip! I wasn't the one who found it, I went by memory of a video from "cthulhuspeedruns" on youtube (the video was removed) I only saw it once without paying too much attention and never tried before now, so I'm not too sure how the flying works exactly (most times I tried I just fell down) If I remember correctly, you should be able to glide all the way to the end of that section. I fail here, and fall down mid-way, probably because I bumped something in-bounds I don't really have time right now to test it further, but you should be able to figure it out from there ! :D
Can you guys please stop spamming my notifications, thanks Kappa
^ This I'm 54th place and proud of it, I want the world to know ! OpieOP
F Too bad, now we're only left with the TAS categories... Kappa
I found these 2 skips while playing through this game recently : Well, trying to, as it keeps crashing on me D: If anyone is ever interested in running this, here you go :)
Yeah I did it overly safe in the video because I didn't want to have to try again :p
I call some of those stupid because they're really inconsistent, and not really worth it. For the jumps, yes, I noticed you jump farther if you Sprint and then Jump with a certain timing (that's what makes the Stucky skip possible for example). My guess is that there's a slight burst of speed at the beginning of sprinting, and if you jump at that moment you keep more momentum than you should during the jump.
I also found some small stuff today :
And I just found this one ! :
It's pretty risky though
Yeah I remember feeling like I stopped it a bit early, but forgot to adjust after that. I'll change the time in the video title too :p
Yeah when I found that one I was like, "Wait, did that really work ? xD", and for some reason it's the only one in the game too. (Also in the run of "The Signal" I submitted I think I left Xbox360 for the platform, but it was of course on PC :p)
Hey ! Not sure where to post this so it might as well be here : I found a bunch a new stuff, and made a video about it : Some of those are pretty dumb (like the tractor thing) and not really worth it, but a lot of them are actually useful. There are also some that I'm pretty sure are not new, but I couldn't find a video of them so I included them for reference. There's also this small thing I found out today : I submitted a run where I used most of these, that I'll try to improve soon. I also submitted a run for each DLC episode, since there was none :D
