Hello, My name is Ash and I’m a freelancer for Minecraft.net. I’m not a speedrunner myself but I love (LOVE it’s like Christmas for me) watching speedruns and events like ESA and the GDQs. Since AGDQ is going on right now, and I have a good rapport with my editors, in casual conversation I suggested they watch FearfulFerret’s All Achievements run a few GDQs back.

They were so fascinated by the idea of speedrunning Minecraft (they’d never heard of it before) that they came back and asked if I would be interested in doing a piece on Minecraft speedrunning for the site.

So here I am! I’m poking bushes and shaking trees seeing if I can find Minecraft speedrunners that’d be interested in having a chat. Talk about what you do, why you speedrun, what makes speedrunning Minecraft appealing/fun/different than speedrunning other games. (I’m partial to platformers myself.)
