Src is not a social media platform. Stop trying to make it one. If people wanna see what my newest runs are, I would not wanna have them see it here but rather through my content creation platforms such as youtube or twitch. How does it make it any easier to follow a cheater? If someone cheated you are going to know for sure. Also if we havent seen it already happen with features like the comment system, it can be easily abused and especially younger speedrunners could easily be harassed by jerks.
Maybe not for you but for me it still matters. And for a few others as well.
Perhaps that fits it better but the problem is that they added a bio but it does not reflect what it should be.
An app is literally waste of dev time. You would have to keep 2 places up to date, so essentially you are doubling the amount of work the developers have to do. Plus, who knows if they are even proficiant with app development?
We dont. We have a bio, which is nice but we still want a custom flair that is displayed and visible on the forums.
What games do you play and enjoy? I enjoy Minecraft, so when I joined recently, I decided to speedrun a few categories and I set some fine records. I still speed run Minecraft, but my records are becoming more impressive. I am an above average player in minecraft, and I guess decent in PvP, and really good at void PvP, I am going to post a few videos on my YouTube channel which show me getting 8 kills in a 11 players skywars game (exluding my self. Unfortunately though, it is hard to beat the 5 kill world record for skywars, I may get a time for 2nd or 1st, but I need to grind like 100 speedruns to achieve such position. And I have been here only for 2 days. You can perform the same (I think).
how do I downvote a comment?
madsen, perhaps you should look into the open source alternative to src that is currently under development. Perhaps this could be a solid alternative to src at one point. look for speedrun.website
Im not going to applaud you for this Elo, as this should have been the bare minimum this should have been implemented with. Also the fact that its still a opt out has a sour aftertaste.
first of all, the thread is probably kinda dead, OP never responded back and 2nd of all you cannot recommend someone upgrading their hardware when we do not even know the cause of the issue. OP could have a sick PC but really bad settings.
I do have the feeling that you just wanted to plug your website. Especially because the linked article has absolutely nothing to do with OPs problem.
Leaderboard mods signed up for a VOLUNTEER POSITION to manage a speedrun leaderboard, not a no-holds-barred chat room. But even if that WASN'T the case, AND there were proper moderation tools... that helps nothing!
If comments are to be a thing, they MUST be opt-in, because untold leaderboards and runs are old and inactive. Which is part of the purpose of a leaderboard site - archiving a piece of speedrun history.
Moderation tools "help" only so far as in it gives a shovel to empty a constantly growing landfill of garbage, but even that does nothing in a place no one is looking. You would need employees to look at and pre-approve every single comment coming into the site.
Or how about a simpler solution: just remove comments from a site where it fills no purpose
Yes this ^100000000000000000000000
