However, I did discover that you can one-cycle the Zone 1 boss using the Iron Squires and a lot of shock (specifically the shock upgrade that staggers). Would save A LOT of time for a run, but y'know, rng to get it :|

Here are some frequently asked questions. More questions will be added as I see them (or come up with).
Question 1: Can you verify my run?
- no. But on a serious note, we have lives. We aren't checking this page (or any page) 24/7 to verify runs, and pestering about your run not being verified makes us want to do it less. Just be patient. Your run WILL be verified at some point. If your run is not verified after 7 days, you have full permission to DM any mods about your run.
Question 2: How do seeds work?
- That is dependent on your difficulty. For Recruit, the seed is constant and never changes. For Operative, the seed is constant if you replay, but changes if you start the mission for the first time. For Legend, the seed is always randomized.
- All difficulties can use a set seed, which can be achieved by navigating to the custom mission settings and entering a seed. You can also shuffle the seeds by enabling Seed Shuffling, located directly below the seed input.
- There are also unique aspects that are noticeable when using a seed obtained from a Random Seed run. For Financier, if you input a seed that you obtained from a Random Seed run, the safe location can be different from what it was in the Random Seed run. Why is this?
- On Financier Random Seed, there are two spawns: X and Y. If you search without intel, depending on the order you searched, you will either get X or Y. Obtaining the intel will always yield Y if it hasn't been checked already on random seeds. If you use the same seed and input it manually, making it a fixed seed, you will obtain spawn X, allowing you to acquire it on your first try without needing intel. If you input a seed manually BUT have Replay Shuffles Seed turned on, you will get the Random Seed mechanic despite it being a Fixed Seed. However, this would require you to leave and rejoin the game every time you fail an attempt, making it quite annoying.
- This means that assuming you found the safe by obtaining intel, any Random Seed seed you get (on Financier) is unlikely to also have a favorable safe spawn when used as a Fixed Seed. So, for now, it's likely better to just manually input seeds when seed hunting for Financier.
Question 3: What is the engine version, why is it required, and how do I turn it on?
- The engine version tells you which version you are currently playing. This is important for us moderators so we can tell if a run is ancient (i.e., not current update) when submitted. It also helps categorize the leaderboard and makes it easier to archive runs if needed. You can find out how to turn it on here.
Question 4: What happens if the current WR for a category is unbeatable?
- There are two types of "unbeatable" runs: Unbeatable due to an update (1) and unbeatable due to WR being goated (2):
- If a run is unbeatable due to an update, the mods will check to see what change caused it and have the community continue attempting it for a set time (or do it themselves, if applicable). If deemed unbeatable, runs will be rejected up to the fastest run on the update.
- Cry about it.
Question 5: Are runs in the Experimental Version allowed to be submitted?
- Runs on the experimental version (test server) are not allowed due to the mechanics in that server not being set in stone. Anything in the experimental server is likely to change compared to the stable version.
Question 6: How can I record and/or upload my runs?
- Anything can be used to record your runs. What matters is what you upload them to. Your recorded runs must be uploaded to a persistent video-sharing site (such as YouTube). It will most likely be rejected if it doesn't natively embed in a speedrun.com submission. A few exceptions to this are Medal.TV, which can be used to record runs but also submit with, and Streamlabs, which many use to upload their runs to, to submit with.
