Submitted and verified runs prior August 8th will be allowed under the previous rule set as they were following the rules at time of submission.

After much discussion, we have come to a conclusion for the rule definitions of NMG. They are as follows:
"Any glitch that allows Samus to move entirely into collision is disallowed. You can easily check what is considered an OoB collision by seeing if it's possible for Samus to die in it.
This includes the following glitches:
- Shine Sink
- Camera Lock
- Slope Clip
- Ledge Climb Clip
- Reverse Magnet
- Grappling magnets through walls
Instances of collision updating, failing to update, or respawning do not invalidate a glitch. It is possible to die with Pseudo-Waves and Ledge Warps this way, but they do not allow you to directly clip out of bounds.
In addition, any glitch that results in Samus's rotation suffering a lasting displacement is disallowed. This includes:
- Axis Skew
- Upside-Down Samus"
This ruleset can easily be updated in the future if new clauses are needed. The immediate repercussions of this are that Short Boost and Ledge Warp are now allowed in NMG.
One of the main concerns with allowing Short Boost was maintaining the spirit of NMG as an "intro" category. After discussions with the community and amongst staff, it is clear that Water Space Jump is not a glitch, but instead an intended mechanic that can be exploited. As a result, WSJ will now be allowed in all glitchless categories.
This seems like a drastic change, but it only affects one category: Any% Glitchless. As a result, its route becomes quite similar to pre-Short Boost NMG, maintaining that route for those who want to run it. With that said, we'll be adding Any% Glitchless officially to the boards, along with 100% Glitchless!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the discussions for these decisions! Your feedback is extremely valuable and we look forward to any feedback you’ll have moving forward.
One last bit of news before we wrap up this post; Category extensions are coming. We’re actively looking into getting them added ASAP and will update once we have a reliable timeline to share.
I think a straight 69 missiles is possible on non-rookie modes
Boss Rush categories are coming soon. An announcement was made in the discord. Staffing isn't the primary reasoning behind the delays regardless.
My response was not in regards to the rules as outlined by the board, but as to what defines a glitch.
"The rules of a glitchless run are simple." Actually, they are not. Take the above mentioned early ice. This skip is compromised of 100% developer intended mechanics, but there are indicators that it was not an intended sequence break. Not a glitch. Not developer intended. The names are arbitrary but serve a loose purpose/idea that the community agrees upon the definition for. Some have stricter definitions than others. That's okay, but it doesn't make anyone more or less correct.
None of your "work has gone to waste" or been "invalidated." You don't need these boards to tell you how to play your runs. (Not to mention these boards don't mean anything except bragging rights in the grand scheme of things.) It's fine if you want to participate in the boards as well, but doing so means compromise. Every person who runs these boards does so with the same rules. That's what gives them validity. Adhere to them, push for a new or updated board, or don't participate in them. You can still be a part of the community regardless of your option. It's been a pretty welcoming community so far including people who don't even run the game.
Lastly, if you were aware enough to apologize for sounding aggressive/disrespectful, it would make more sense to alter your tone or just stand by it. Especially in a forum, where by you're own admission, you are new and have little background information. It's not a real time conversation either. Posts and responses can be thought out, re-hashed, and adjusted before anyone ever gets to read them. Apologizing for being disrespectful sounds hollow when you had plenty of opportunity not to be and still made several statements that contradict that position anyway.
Not all elements have been tested, and a way to differentiate past runs without invalidating them would need to be hashed out. Even if the switch is made, it's going to take time to implement.
Glitchless any % only cuts out a single chozo. Not significant enough to be a category. There wasn't any interest in 0% glitchless as far as I am aware, but doesn't mean you can't run what you like. There were a group of players running glitchless prior to it being a category. Tracked records through a google doc.
Oats may make a living off streaming, but without solid evidence to support it, I find it difficult to believe his placing on SRC is the main source of his career.
Even if that were the case, the vast majority of runners here are not making a living off of it.
There is merit to both sides. With 19 members and the changes to remove verification from top X times, one could expect an improved turn around time. Top players seem to be playing less or not submitting as often as well. Some runs take days to weeks, others seem to be verified within 3 days. It's inconsistent, which can be frustrating.
We don't have access to all the information though. It's possible other factors are impacting the verification. At the end of the day, they are people, volunteers even. For something that is at best, a hobby.
You're currently only allowed to resubmit runs if they were submitted prior to the split. I don't know the official ruling on the accidental ledge warp, but I think for consistency the run would not be valid even if it was a time loss.
