There have never been any runs submitted to those categories.
When doing splits for 32/48 tracks, can we just split at the cups or do we have to split on every course?
The only splits that matter are the start and finish splits. You can do whatever you want.

I'd like to apologize for all of the recent inconveniences with my lack of moderation and poor attitude lately. I've been acting pretty immature and lazy when it comes to moderating and there really isn't an excuse for it. I know a lot of people may be frustrated as they just simply want to see their time on a leaderboard and I haven't been giving them that. I've decided it's probably best for everyone that someone that both runs and would update the games more than me is put in as moderator, as my laziness has been tolerated for too long at this point. As long as the community is okay with and/or agrees with who is put as moderator, it's fine with me. Thanks to all of you for being so patient with me over the past months. I'll probably still give my two cents if any debates are brought up so I'll be around. I'll try to actually update some runs before I go inactive.

I'm happy to stay as mod just in case I'm needed for something or I actually feel like updating runs if everyone is okay with that. If not, that's fine.

Thanks again for everything and good luck with your runs ;)

I was on a string of vacations recently and just got back, runs should be updated more frequently. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Doesn't matter if you win or not.

Considering the rules say to set them to Hard, yes.

Did you post this 5 times to try to bother me or did you get a lagspike or something

it's honestly ridiculous the amount of times i provide a reasonable answer to a request

then someone "suggests" the exact same thing

then the same people (whos suggestion i already replied to) come back and hop on the same bandwagon

is it really that difficult to make sure something hasn't already been suggested rather than be ignorant and repeat the same things over and over again

someone: "suggestion" me: "im gonna have to reject this request sorry" someone else: "same suggestion" same people from the last suggestion: "i agree!"

please stop, its stressful enough having a bunch of people making suggestions i simply cant add to the board. REPEATING THEM OVER AND OVER WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING.

I know exactly what you mean, but at the end of the day adding this is relatively pointless.
Well I ca tell you for s fact it is not slight. All the time adds up in runs like 32 and 48. I consider my times WR on disk. Loading times suck.
Sorry don't know why I wrote slight.

You can consider anything a WR if you want, in the end it doesn't change anything.

It wouldn't be easy to make changes as I've said since a. the board is clogged already, b. i can't just change all of the previous runs to account for a version variable without knowing which run was done on which version, and c. the differences and what factors are involved aren't clear.

So yeah, you guys can keep trying to prove points against me or make up your own categories, but at the end of the day things aren't going to change until all of those problems are cleared up, which probably won't happen. I know it sucks that these load issues are a thing, but there's only so much I know and can do.
Well heres the main response to that. Why would I buy the game again if I already have it? I feel like having an extra $60 is more important then a speedrun.
Then you'll just have to deal with the slight load differences.

thread: Mario Kart 8
Massachusetts, USAKing8 years ago

Yep Patrick pretty much got it, no timer in the video is okay as long as you provide a screenshot of the timer or integrate from splits.io

thread: Mario Kart 8
Massachusetts, USAKing8 years ago

The only reason I think something like this could be worth it if the load time difference was something ridiculous. There are so many possible factors that there's really no point. Plus, if it matters that much, then you could just buy the digital version yourself.

thread: Mario Kart 8

Whenever I see a time that's decently high in the rankings without a video it always worries me. I wonder if I should be accepting times that good without any sort of proof. My frame of mind has been that the WR for that category must have proof (for obvious reasons). Although I don't think Videowiz's suggestion is a bad idea, I understand that some people have no way of recording and uploading video proof, and I don't want to discriminate them too harshly. To me, this suggestion is saying that, "if you're top 5/top 10 material, you have to have video." This also means that, in a nutshell, you have to be far worse than others to have a non-video time accepted.

Would you all be in favor of non-video times requiring a screenshot of splits or splits.io integration?
You guys need to add the Mushrooms Only category and plus im making a Mario Kart 8 200cc Itemless tutorial
I'm going to need a very good argument to convince me that this is a good idea. Here's why:

 1. There's not much (if any) room left to be adding categories
 2. There's already speed and item options, do we really need more?
 3. Literally none of the other MK games have this, so why should we?
 4. Saying "you should add this" and giving no reasoning or argument is just annoying and a waste of time

I'm happy to add this if enough people want this and you actually provide a valid argument. So far only 2 people want it out of 145, so it's not happening right now.
why aren't those variables? i want them to be variables
1. They're slower
 2. Hardly anyone would run them
 3. There's no room on the leaderboard
 4. I can't add something just because you (and only you) want it

Thanks to the new variable system (shown above), there are a few new settings implemented into the leaderboard. I'll address the settings below:

 • Mandatory is checked: You must select a variable when submitting a run.
 • User Defined is unchecked: You cannot submit a run with custom variables.
 • Values obsolete eachother is unchecked: Submitting a 200cc run will not remove your 150cc run from the leaderboard.
 • 150cc is set as the default variable: This setting is enabled to emphasize 150cc as the main category and better separate 150cc and 200cc runs.

I hope you all like the changes! As always, feel free to reply with your comments and concerns.

Also, thanks for over 100 runs in the 32 Tracks category!

Every time I try to select a default variable, it is automatically unchecks.
I dunno if you saw it in the speedrun.com irc. but they are making improvements to the variable system, I dunno how it worked before, but i feel like this would make 200cc/150cc work better.
Thanks for posting this! I'll be sure to fiddle with the settings :P
What about having single Cups in the Individual Levels? We could have different categories like "150cc", "200cc", "150cc No items" and "200cc No Items".
Although this isn't too bad an idea it wouldn't really make too much sense in terms of what a level is. A "level" is synonymous with a course or track in Mario Kart, so putting a 4-level run in an individual level chart makes little sense. Also, people always seem to forget that myself and the other moderators try to keep each game's leaderboard as consistent as possible. Having this game be the only one out of the eight with cup runs as individual levels breaks that consistency.

I'm nearly positive it's not possible for me to do so, I would definitely if I could.
