I'm no longer a mod of the Digimon Series community, but this has been previously discussed by mods and other members of the community, and from what I remember, there is a unanimous agreement to reject the run based on two fundamental criteria consistent with Digimon Speedruns.

  1. The playthrough was done over a period of days with the stream turned off for several hours in between. It's neither single-segment nor provable to be true RTA--having a timer running off-stream does not qualify.

  2. Prosperity Points is the primary criteria for in-game progress since no percentage counter exists. 100% is an arbitrary name that's not well defined by any objective standard. 200 Prosperity points, on the other hand, would be considered the longest main category of the game since the goal is not disputable.

Another option one could consider is to have the categories: -any% (beat Machinedramon) -any% 50PP¤ (beat Machinedramon with 50PP before the fight) -100PP¤ (Jijimon’s confirmation of 100PP) ¤with the stipulation that the PP must be obtained from the intended source.

I believe this way the only thing you need to explicitly ban is fake recruiting, and you get the benefits of other (and future) glitches without needing to cherrypick. Waterfall skip would likely not benefit you in any% or 100PP, but at least it’s left as an option.

One thing I do want to point out before conversation continues is that people shouldn't refer to or summarize the findings of this entire week as one glitch. While other glitches are (currently) dependent on the textbox storage one, their impact on the run does not necessarily have to be viewed the same way. So when saying things like allowing the "glitch in its full glory", I would just be careful.

Imo, with the category suggestions I posted earlier, as long as you just remove fake recruitments (which is an entire glitch on its own), I don't think that you will need to worry too much about being arbitrary.

There is no 'theoretically' to it. There's no % counter to this game. Category names should not be ambiguous.

The previous ruleset for this game doesn't mention the use of in-game 'cheat' codes. There was an assumption that we did not need to explicitly state it. The use of codes, especially One-Hit KO, ruins the integrity of the run. I am going to suggest removing the use of these codes and retroactively removing those times which uses these codes from the leaderboard.

Anyone opposed to this should post here within the next 48 hours before moderators make the final decision.

I understand the game is long, and we've done this as race categories on SRL previously. Stage completions for this particular game is, however, too arbitrary.

After some further discussion on the Discord, the community consensus suggests that due to inability to foresee potentially future DLCs' effects on the speedrun, all DLCs (exclusive or not) should not be allowed in any category of Digimon World: Next Order or Digimon World: Next Order (International Edition). All rulesets in these two games and their respective categories have been modified to reflect these changes.

Zewing, the PS4 release is considered the International edition.

VODs were there at one point until Twitch removed all unhighlighted videos from the database.

Thanks, I think someone else took care of it in the past 12 hours. If I can recreate that glitch, should I tell an admin about it?

Cant edit/delete last game ("Digimon Park" 2016) on the leaderboards. It just redirects to the main speedrun.com site.

Generally speaking, turbo function by use of non-standard hardware (including third-party controllers) are typically banned in ANY speedrun unless the category or rules explicitly says you can use it.

This discussion was already had amongst the moderator team months ago, but it's good to have this explicit on the forums.

The reason why the fan translation password only works on the patched game is because the passwords are also in a sense "translated". The characters that represent a hex value is just changed between the two versions, thus the passwords would of course not work between the two different versions.

The advantage of NG+ is that you can start off with items that you obtained by using passwords. Everything you collect is carried over to your next playthrough. Using items in a New Game would essentially just be a slightly slower version of NG+ where you don't have to input the passwords during the actual speedrun segment. Thus, there would be no point.

To celebrate the acceptance of Digimon World any% into ESA and SGDQ, we are attempting to organize a small Digimon speedrunning marathon and fundraiser to promote the speedrun and help our runners attend the events.

There is no current set date for the Digithon; however, we are planning to have this occur in a 48 hour block within June 5 to June 24.

Most runners have already been contacted personally. If anyone else is interested in participating, please sign up here: http://goo.gl/forms/CT9pqlxrkv

Thanks. I replied; make sure to check in the "Other" tab if I don't show up in your inbox.

Can you send me a PM somehow, Bentley?

We're currently developing things that will prevent things like this happening in the future, and I believe we can have a more thorough and insightful discussion through another medium.

The only notes that were really made public were ones written by Ridelith:

The strats are only slightly outdated. I would look at the WR video for the most up-to-date route.

If you have any further questions about the run, let me know on twitch! :)
