Thank you for everything you've done to pull the community together. I've always felt you've had the community's best interests at heart. You have without a doubt made an important impact on thousands of peoples' lives. Good luck with wherever life takes you, friend.
Just an FYI to @oggyerino, runs that use this should be marked as "Web [emu]".
You have a point. I'm all about game-defined terms though. The game distinguishes them in a way that we shouldn't try to interpret further. The King of Bling achievement unlocks when you "Earn ALL of the Clear Gems". It wouldn't be the moderators' fault if somebody misinterpreted what a clear gem is. The same argument can be made against normal, because an nverted gem is just a normal gem flipped upside down (as opposed to a color gem for example). Clear gem we can at least back up with game definitions.
I think that can just be called All Gems. The game never refers to the N. Verted gems as just "gems", and you'll need the colored gems to get the regular gems anyway. That's the category that feels most immediately appealing to me, too! Exciting stuff.
Just read the rules, man.
In addition, one player must pick a character from the opposite morality of the other player in order to play Tie Breaker after beating Oxide, on NTSC it grants an extra trophy, bringing the total trophy count to 29, which gives the extra 1%. (not required on PAL, since it doesn't give you a trophy for beating the minigame).
It's been discussed in the past. The general consensus is that it doesn't change that much in reality, and most peoples' time would be better spent on 100%. A category not being present on a leaderboard should not hold you back from doing whatever runs you'd like on your own. I have done a run of every category NG+ and I have done a run of every category without double jumps. I have ran All Skill Points. I have ran All Life Bottles. I've even done Chargeless. I don't care that my runs aren't represented because what I did was not competitive. You do you, dude.
Many mods are inactive. I was placed on the team when I was asking about the Centurion bosses. I don't know the intentions of the old mods when they set up the x hero to x level categories. I don't know how to answer some questions I've been asked about what is allowed and what is not. It's frustrating to me that it's been all over the place for so long. More people won't solve the issue, only better communication will. I'd love to hear their input.
According to the rules: "This board uses loadless timing, through means of a load removal tool for LiveSplit found here. All submissions must include both a loadless time and a time with loads. Additionally, proof of the time without loads (e.g. by having LiveSplit on the stream) must be provided."
Option Menu -> Set Cash -> Elizabeth -> 74 or lower Place Token -> Elizabeth -> Up 4 (chance spot) -> start game Elizabeth start -> roll snake eyes. Might be faster.
Any% of the full game is short enough and there is an IL chart if it's still too long for you. I typically see demo versions of games that are not yet released, then the boards get archived and nobody runs it beyond release date. I'm fascinated that you're interested in doing that for a 12 year old game, but I don't see a chart being made for it.
I only have one submission to this game and probably won't have (m)any more submissions, but I figured I'd give my input. As long as the start and end is consistent between both categories and easy to retime, it should be fine. Whenever the text appears (8.2-ish seconds after pressing a/start) at the beginning, and the trash can scene at the end is good too. It's worth mentioning it's a good idea to keep it at the trash scene rather than the blue scoring screen to be fair to old runners who otherwise would've lost time to not skipping the trash scene. Additionally, pay attention to the framerate of the game, and adjust submissions to fit if you are retiming runs with 3 decimal places. My submission was adjusted to a .867, which is OK, but another was adjusted to a .999, which shouldn't be a possible frame to my understanding. If anything, if the game is running at 30fps, your frames should be x.000, x.033, x.067, x.100, x.133 .... x.867, x.900, x.933, x.967, x.000. It is not necessary to change the run comment noting that the time was adjusted. The runners will know. If you figure out how you'd like to approach this and would like help adjusting times, I'd be up to help out. I would like to point out finally that I don't think 2nd place is a tie. It is not inherent that a tie would happen based on what is known about the game. It seems that the CPU roll has something to do with when the console was turned on, but as there is an input to start the game later, you can vary your start time and have different results. I see it as similar to Super Mario Bros. runners waiting at the title screen for a handful of seconds before beginning the run, but the effect of waiting is far more frequent in this game. I'd like to see those runs get a second evaluation.
I've split Glitchless and Unrestricted. I still think it's best to condense the difficulties into the same leaderboard for now. Feel free to continue using filters to see other difficulty rankings.
Typically games with drastic version differences like that would have their own board. You're on the console board right now, and it seems DS is it's own version - https://www.speedrun.com/prrds
I don't think the 3DS version is the same as either of these, so maybe it just needs its own board. Go ahead and submit the game to the site, but they'll probably request you get in touch with a series mod to get it going.
