The argument of if other servers (other than Mineplex) should be able to set records. This is an argument that I would like to address before the times get out of hands and there are too many records from each server to revert the change. Also, I would like to get my opinion known so I would be able to understand the other points of views. I am going to be splitting this post into 3 different sections so my opinion doesn’t seem bias and so people are able to see my points from all different views.

Allowance:

For starters, I would like to make points about why other servers should be able to submit records. This type of system would be for a more community based record system, so everyone would be able to get involved in gaining records and testing their skills against the rest of the community. It would also be able to help people with their pings, having Turkish or Russian servers that would be better for people’s pings that don’t like playing on the EU and US servers that are mineplex. This is also because people that can’t translate to English or other languages would be able to talk to their friends and not have to translate everything so they can talk to the mainly English mineplex community. This way of setting the records although fun, would not be very efficient as it would lead into new difficulties that will talk about in the next section.

Denial:

There are many reasons why they shouldn’t be accepted into the public world record list, I will try to say as many as I can in this post. Let’s start with the timing issues. In the gaming community there was a lot of controversy a long time ago about why some people were getting faster times than others. This is because FPS was found to have made an overall difference on the end game time. This is the same type concept that is happening right now. With different servers (Mineplex and Universo Craft) for instance. Taking records from each server could end up in the future as being a big problem for timing. I believe that it could be a problem because the code for each other servers are different. This could mean that there are unknown time differences in the code making it so one server is slower to play on and one server is fast. Making one server, a lot faster and better to play on because it is faster to get wr’s that if both having perfect runs give a time that would be unachievable on one of the servers. Now, I understand that the community for these world records are a trust based community, and it’s not that I don’t believe other players can’t get the records, I think that they could be getting better times because of differences of code. There are so many factors that change what the time could end out being, even simple things. The timer starting on a different point, one starts on 0, and another on 0.1 making a difference. Or if the server timer is on server side and the server Lags for a second, a world would be able to be beat very easily. In the end, we will never get a confirmed answer to see if the code shows that they are perfectly the same. Mineplex’s Plugins are not Open Source and we will never be able to access the code to the Speed Builders file. And other servers not letting people see their code. It is very understandable as if one person accesses the code, everyone would be able to make their own servers and get their own records.

Conclusion:

This argument has many differences of opinions, and I really appreciate the time that you have taken to read this far. In my own opinion I think that other servers shouldn’t be allowed to have their records submitted into the same category as the mineplex records. This could be changes by having different sections for each server. Even something like that would, in my opinion, be better than keeping all the records together. That is what I have to say, I would like to hear what everyone else thinks and why they should, or shouldn’t be allowed into the same category. Thanks for reading!
