Fair enough, I'm still curious about this however. I will look at the links you sent!

So who would be running in this tournament? I'm still mostly confused about that.

I've re-read it twice and I'm still vaguely unsure of what is being asked here. I am not overly familiar with "other side tournaments." Can you explain it to me a little bit, you really only provided one or two paragraphs actually talking about it and I am just a little confused. Also, there is nothing wrong with asking questions, there's no need to apologize or beat yourself up over asking a question. Thanks!

Are you planning on splicing or other tampering?

@garsh I feel like most of those items you listed can be easily solved by using a community discord for a game. For fusion, we have community members volunteer for verifier role. Once given that, they're given access to a channel for verifier discussion for runs where all the super mods/mods/verifiers can see it and discuss. We also run community polls through the discord as well so that everyone in the community can vote. I'm not saying the suggestions are bad for the site, but I feel like a lot of your issues could be solved through alternative means, such as discord. Especially since I feel like there's a very healthy amount of runners (definitely a majority) that use discord in the first place and wouldn't require having to check SRC often and risk missing a potentially important poll.

I definitely agree that having a way to identify users that frequently submit false runs and have a way of blacklisting them from submitting could definitely save a lot of time for some verifiers. As it relates to #3, users that delete their accounts are given the option to remove their runs as they are deleting the account if I recall correctly. Doing it automatically just because "they don't have an account on the site anymore," might be a bit of a tough sell for all leaderboards.

Hey, I made a thread last night about this, but was told to maybe post it here as well. I was wondering if we could get secondary timing as an option implemented for leaderboards. For games that sort by in-game time that don't provide a seconds column, it'd be nice to be able to break the ties with RTA. For example, for years we used IGT for the Fusion leaderboards, but because there were multiple people that achieve an in-game time of 0:46 and 0:47, they would all end up being tied and would all be considered as 1st and then whatever place started the second fastest time. To appease the community we switch to sorting by Real-Time, so we would no longer have ties. I know the site automatically sorts on the board in order of fastest RTA time when there is an in-game time tie, but it still has all the players indicated as "1st." If there were a feature to allow for the breaking of ties, like a secondary timing method option, it'd be a lot easier to properly sort our boards and appease both the RTA and IGT camps.

I have not, but I will. Wasn't entirely sure where the best place to put this was. I figured under "the site" threads would be a good start. Thanks for the advice!

Exactly what Monsh just described. We used in-game time for years to indicate fastest times. But with more people tying the top times there became a bigger push to try and differentiate the top times. I don't think it should be too much trouble to add a secondary timing method option, but we had asked a while back and nothing came of it. Like I said, it's a bit of a niche thing, but no one is willing to keep an updated excel sheet with the times anymore. I'm hoping this time we at least get some sort of response so we can try to please both the people that want to use IGT as the main timing method and the people who want the tie to be broken visibly on the leaderboard.

thread: The Site

I understand this is probably a very niche issue, but can we add an option for secondary timing methods for games? A quick example would be Metroid Fusion. For the longest time we would sort by in-game time. However, the in-game timer only shows minutes. This caused ties on the leaderboard with about 5 or 6 people tied for first and a slew of others tied for the second fastest time. It would be nice to be able to use in-game time to primarily sort the leaderboard and then have a secondary timing method, like real time, to break those times so that way there are no shared first places and so on. I know the site will order tied in-game runs by their real time on the board, but it still lists the runs as a shared first. This is a very hot button issue for members of the community surprisingly as apparently people don't want to see shared/tied times.

JRP since when did you become the Fusion police?

It gets more strict the lower of a time you get. Hence why I cannot place my 46 on here without a video accompanying it.
