is there any reason nobody runs backyard basketball?

I just tried my benchmark 7char run and finished in 2h47m11s. Obviously this is not a good time in terms of the leaderboard, it's third from last, but that raises the question: what, for you, is your benchmark for an average run? I've only run 1char in the past so I'm not sure if 2:47:11 is abysmal or not bad or somewhere in between. It seems really bad, it's almost 24 minutes per character on average which seems to barely even qualify as a speedrun, but again I don't have much to go off of. I can tell sub-2 is probably considered pretty good, and that 3+ is probably considered pretty bad, but I could use more specific benchmarks.

Also for what it's worth, I prefer the single-segment 100% to the single-session double-segment 100%. It would just be too much grinding for any category besides 1char 100%. That being said, if anyone has their heart set on it, I'd be down to run single-session 2-seg 1char 100%. But if people want to do 100% 11char or 13char runs or anything, I think we should go with just the single segment per character so it doesn't become a 22 or 26 segment run, that's just nightmarish.

Well, if nobody else would run it, that's probably why. I know I wouldn't, and I think you and I are really the only people who still run "vanilla" AB.

EDIT: nah, Falke and Sakimotor both had runs up in the past few months as well, so I guess there are other people still running besides the two of us. If other people weigh in and would play it, you could maybe get them to open a new category (I'm actually pitching a 100% 1char category myself right now, if you're interested you should go weigh in on my post in the forum!). but if it's just one person who runs it, there's not much point in a leaderboard.

On the one hand, I get it, and I kind of like the idea. But on the other hand, only 4 of the 10 fastest 1char runs on the leaderboard were Eden runs, and the difference between the fastest Eden run (5:35 by karlomo) and the fastest non-Eden run (5:43 by BrainTM with Maggie) is only 8 seconds, which comes out to only 2.3% faster. Honestly Eden makes it easier to grind for good starts but it isn't like you can't get a good start without it. Basically, while it's easier to get a good run with Eden, a good run with any other character is still possible and just as good, it just is less likely to happen. So I gotta say I don't think they should open up a new category for this. But I mean you can always just use the #filter by character function on the LB to see how you stack up against other char runners.

I was thinking the category(ies) could just be (x)char with the following 3 addenda: In each segment of your run, you must 1) clear the Boss Room on each of the 10 normal floors [for Labyrinth levels, this means clearing both Boss Rooms], 2) clear the entire Boss Rush, and 3) clear Blue Womb (???) by defeating Hush. Alternatively, we could do all of the above twice for each char; one segment going up to The Chest and one segment going down to Dark Room. If you're interested in either of these, let me know which you prefer and what #char run you'd want to do. I personally am interested in running 1char 100%, but I'd try others as well. I figure if people are interested Hyphen-ated might open up some new categories under the "Misc" tab. Also if you've got any other thoughts on rules for a 100% cat, let me know! I'm totally open to feedback, this is just a rough idea.
