I see... so this bridge skip can't be done without the bomb jump glitch? -what about just the ice beam, and high jump or something? It's clearly their intention that you defeated both bosses first.

Otherwise I'll have to redo the old forgotten math to determine the new lowest possible intended percentage

I would be willing to try it out… better late than never? :p

From my research those four pickups seem correct (approximately 12%), since I have to assume missiles are needed for red doors, given I don't intend to use any clipping. The unmorph air jump is logically bizarre, but if nothing else it really seems the devs must have been aware of it.

The question is, are either of those essential to this Low% run. Additionally, both mini bosses must be destroyed to open the way to Tourian, right?

If I understand correctly, the only upgrades required to complete the game without glitches would be Morph Ball, Bomb, and Ice Beam?

Incidentally, is there a full list of glitches anywhere? Frankly I'd rather not use any, but it seems I must at least become aware of what exactly they are, if only to know just what I'm avoiding.

Thanks again

Hey everyone, I've been looking all over trying to figure out what the lowest possible percent this game can be beaten at is (as well as the Prime games). There are no shortage of boundary breaking examples, but I'm surprised and dismayed that no one seems to have tried it without cheating, so I can't find any info on it... does anyone know only which items are absolutely necessary to complete the game normally?

I appreciate any help on the matter, thanks. : )

It seems like the rules contradict the error when the field is left blank, but regardless the file select screen video alone was accepted for multiple categories, so I guess I should just submit whatever I can and see what the mods do

I figured it was just laziness or hassle of some kind

Part of my confusion might have to do with the fact that I'm doing only in-game timer runs, meaning I can diverge into other categories after having already finished, but I don't know if this is even considered acceptable. I'm further unclear on the video link requirement, which I had read were only required for really good times and such. I just took a short video of my file select screen since it's not practical for me to record or time everything. I also have pictures of past file select screen times; am I supposed to just record a video of a picture? I have to assume that for this site only "true" speed runs are prioritized, but I also think that any time is better than no time, so I'm just trying to understand the basics so people at least have some benchmark reference for how long something could take to complete.

There are no forum notifications? I just have to keep manually checking every thread?

Obviously I'm overlooking the name change options, having checked a couple times :^/

I don't understand why basically any average run would not be eligible for the any% category, regardless of any other category it might also qualify for. The same goes for OoB or Not OoB, or even harder difficulty modes. If I complete a Not OoB run on Hard at 0%, why would that not be applicable as an any% OoB run on easy%? Do I have to go out of my way to go out of bounds once and collect 1 item in order to achieve a classification I've otherwise already met? Especially when many applicable categories are blank, I'm confused as to why seemingly applicable times are not listed, instead causing me to rummage any number of category tab combinations to find.

Also, where is the best place to ask both general questions about how to post properly, and more on speed running the Metroid series as a whole? (Metroid series page forum looked empty)

Oh, and how can I be notified when threads like this have been replied to?

Thanks for the help!

I joined recently after finding no times for the categories I'd beaten.

-Does anyone know why the any% categories don't also list times submitted for 100% or 0%? Aren't those also technically any%?

Also just wondering if usernames can be changed, thanks!
