Recently I got back into playing RoR2 and got to thinking what would be the most ridiculous challenge possible. I played when the DLC first came out, but stopped shortly after due to work, and now that I'm back into it I want to do something mentally insane to pour all of my newfound free time into since I recently quit my job.

I don't know how possible this category might be, and furthermore I doubt any sane person would do something like this on a whim during their free time. Mainly asking this to see what the community thinks about a feat like this. Essentially I'm thinking about the following:

  1. 100% category "Timing" rules apply.
  2. 100% category "Requirements" rules apply.
  3. Runners have to unlock everything by playing only on Eclipse mode.
  4. If the runner ends up completing all characters on Eclipse level 8, they must complete any remaining unlocks via Eclipse level 8.
  • The thought behind this rule is to make the routing a vital feature depending not only on which character or unlocks to start with, but to also make any of the easier unlocks saved for last, if any easy unlocks are left over at the end, to also become a challenge to those that didn't plan out or didn't have the RNG to complete them all before level 8 Eclipse.
  1. The only time the runner may replay through an Eclipse level is if they die attempting to complete the Eclipse level. Upon completion of said level, the runner may NOT go back to earlier levels for that character.
  • This gives runners the option to die and reset the Eclipse level to complete all unlocks on easier levels, however it will inevitably result in a longer time. Reliable and longer time vs. Risky and faster time, not to mention the routing differences as well.
  1. Runners may take several breaks, but it must follow the break ruling from the 100% category where the runner must stop and start the timer from the menu.
  • Unsure of how many breaks since I haven't even done a full playthrough of Eclipse 8 on any character casually, but I assume the scale of a run like this would take several days, if not a week or so to complete a decent run.
  • Bonus ruling for the mentally insane: Complete Simulacrum Wave 50 after completing all characters on Eclipse level 8. This must be done at the end of the 100% Eclipse Only run so that if anyone were to give up at any time during this point, their Simulacrum Wave 50 attempt wouldn't ruin their entire run.
  • Any exploits and "cheese" mechanics will disqualify runs. If it isn't intended to be in the game, or if it abuses the code in some sort of way (such as AI pathing being blocked or god spots), that is considered an exploit/"cheese".
  • The idea is to make this not boring and turn an amazing run into a god like run. I'll personally be attempting this in runs since I haven't even played or heard of Simulacrum before today, but it will most likely need a separate category in the end depending on what moderators/community decides... IF I end actually submitting a run and not giving up to create this monstrosity.

The idea is to create something so difficult that its only meant for those that are willing to destroy themselves (in-game and mentally) to complete a run of such caliber and unforgiveness. I haven't even run the game before, but I believe this might be an interesting idea, albeit the most ridiculous and pain inducing thing I could start with, but I implore the challenge to anyone who believes they could pull it off. I sure will be attempting some training to see if there are any additional rulings needed, like if there's an unlock that cannot be done in Eclipse only.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to balance something this insanely hard, or if anyone knows the ins and outs of the game and can point this kind of category towards the right direction of a possible but improbable feat, please feel free to reply and share this around! Good luck runners! (if any dare take this challenge >:)
