I just saw that one of the games I mod is backward compatible on Xbox One. What do you think, should I add that as an available platform for the game, or just leave it as Xbox 360?
Been considering running this. I have two versions of this game, one with the sequences not included at launch and one without.
Hey, I'm just a viewer when it comes to speedruns of this game, but I want to understand them all. 120 star is obvious. 70 star is like a glitchless any%. 0 star allows all glitches, 1 star allows all but one. But what is the point of getting 16 stars? From the rules descriptions it doesn't seem anything is forbidden (although maybe I'm reading it wrong). Is it just arbitrary?
I got the WiiU version of this game for free. I've heard it's an awesome speedrun (and the crowded leaderboard would seem to confirm that). Of course I'll casually play the WiiU version I have first, but if I decide that I like the game well enough to run it, would I be best served to buy the PC version? I know that for "serious" speedrunning (is anything we do serious?), running on PC is best if the game exists for PC (absent extraordinary cases involving platform-exclusive glitches). Would that be the case for this game too?
Looks like we need different categories. Norferzlo's run exploits a glitch I didn't know existed, and is best considered the true any%. All other runs should go under something like "All chambers"
Hello. I have this game for console (still haven't actually played it). I've heard it's a pretty sweet speedrun game, and I know that the general idea for any "serious" speedrunning is that if the game is on PC, you'd best run it on PC. Would you, the community of this game, say that's a good/necessary idea in this case?
Where would I go to address moderation for these forums? It's not about a game or a leaderboard moderator. My specific issue is this ignorant bigoted shit: http://www.speedrun.com/Talk/thread/ohx0n -- but it'd be a good thing to know about just in general.
If not, I'd like to suggest that we do. This is something that cannot reliably be replicated. It just sorta happens sometimes. I feel like it's not altogether fair to count it if it happens with a clock running. I've had it happen once in a speedrun attempt for me (once in a challenge run) and what actually happened was I was so confused that I killed the run. No doubt, it would be a shame to have to kill a good run over this, but we've all killed good runs for stupider shit :P
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's an example:
That was the one from my challenge run (didn't save the time it happened in a speedrun attempt -- it was the EMT in Medical Emergency taking damage right as I talked to him that triggered it). What happens is you take damage ¤right¤ as you hit a mission marker, and the game considers the mission completed.
Furthermore, if someone ¤does¤ find a way to do this reliably, I'd want there to be 2 categories for the game. One with the trick (which would become the true any%) and one without. I don't want the route we have right now to be lost, ever.
I suppose we should ask permission first, but it's always better to have a full leaderboard than to not!
I will be submitting my own run for this leaderboard (already have one on the website) soon, gotta finish a run with some new strats I've incorporated.
Not sure what else to add. I want to get more into running platformers, retro if possible, and I want to do it on PC. I don't own any consoles older than the original Xbox (at least not currently) and I'm not sure if/when I get "new" ones how easily I could capture from them. So....any good retro or retro-style platformers on Steam to run?
Since activating the Ray Sphere in End of the Road instantly sets your karma to Infamous, would true 100% really require two full playthroughs? Just max out every Hero upgrade and side mission first, then activate the Sphere in that mission, and do it again on the other side. Would still be a long-ass run, and I'll never do it, but it seems like it wouldn't necessarily have to be two full playthroughs.
