So Fran Bow randomly got an update and runners who have mastered Legacy tricks requested the versions be split since the new version is much faster but removes a lot of the speedtech of the older version making them quite different. I have split the boards and will have the default one be Legacy for now unless Unity gets more runners since it makes sense to showcase the run people like doing more
So I was playing this game casually and managed to clip into a staircase. I think the games path detection messed up when I tried climbing and it corrected me into a spot that allowed me to run through it.
I don't know if it'd be useful in the spot I found it but other game staircases may be if it could be replicated.

So with the new trick traditional RPG enjoyers are definitely being left behind if they want to compete since the new style of run entirely breaks it.
Countdown already mentioned the idea of splitting with the new route and the old route with Dynamo. I'm not opposed to the idea but it may make more sense to have entirely glitchless vs glitched, but I would like to hear more on this.
As well I'm not sure how exactly to separate on different versions. The smartest I'd guess is combine the unofficial english ones and keep JPN on its own end?
It was brought to my attention that some players may be experiencing varying load times upon booting the game. To help make competition more fair for runners time will start upon first input which is the text at the start saying "Hi Sarah! We're so glad you could come on such short notice!"
Upon looking at the existing runs there already exists a slight difference so this should help
So I found a skip by mashing the confirm button. It allows you to INSTANTLY solve the Lights Out book puzzle to get the tree key and likely saves about 30 seconds over actually doing it.

So looking at the game as a whole it's pretty lengthy and the endgame levels are kind of insane. As a category I think a Hub 1 which ends the run on the first boss would make for an excellent category! I've done some test runs of this so far on PS2 and it's looking to be about a 25 minute run.
For clarity this begins on New Game selection and hits time at the end of the Benny Boss
So I was wondering for a dedicated category since it's usually decently stable to have an Any% for Extracurricular Activities since it's essentially the default main campaign that has some consistency.
If needed I have a run already done and I believe there have also been some done on Youtube
So I'm noticing most of the runners are using Axel. Is this solely because of his Armor stat+Special or is it a preference thing? From what I can tell Warthog or Mr. Slam would have comparable stats to Axel but they don't seem as used
So is there any real reason why the leaderboards separate each console? If it's IGT technically each should be equal right? Has anyone actually tested this or is it more separated as a rule of thumb
Hi Everyone,
So I'm a new moderator for HOTD2 and looking at the leaderboard it's honestly a bit of a mess and there are a metric ton of categories. I want to make some changes to the leaderboard. Most notably:
The main categories should be the "Legit" runs which are currently categorized as scriptless Fixing the weird tabbing on some runs where Console is considered.
I don't imagine this board is the most active but there are like 2 different locations to submit console runs and since we use a form of IGT we technically wouldn't need both
So this board doesn't get much action, would it be possible to get another category added on which would be for blindfolded runs?
I have a vod already done if that helps
So unfortunately I do not have any footage of this since I did it as a child, but I remember for the final boss there was a UFO fight and the secret agent fight. That being said I know this is going to sound a bit odd with this claim but here me out
For the UFO fight against the giant president robot, if you use the UFO pick up to pick up something you can knock this into The Robot. What this can potentially do is knock the Robot into the water if he moved closed enough. This causes an instant death and brings you to the part two of the fight. It's hard to replicate but I just remembered this is possible and may help trim that section of the game.
While claims like this may be normally suspicious, I do avidly run plenty of games and remember that moment well. I believe it can be implemented with the proper setup. I want to say I had a building or a car and tried to wrap it around the boss
The rules are simple, have Donny's Pizza disconnect their phone service as quickly as possible
Hi everyone!
So I requested two things to the SRC mods since the leaderboard has been dormant.
- TheSiege be made into a Super Mod
- I be allowed to at the least verify runs
It looks like they made me into a super mod as well, I don't plan on changing the leaderboard layout currently or making any rash changes, I figure we should just have something available to approve of incoming runs.
Thank you

I'm not sure if this is the right place but I wanted to ask if there is any interest in adding in a verifier role? I've had a run in submission limbo for about 30 days now, there's usually some time to account for peoples schedules but I feel having some community members act as a verifier should help process runs.
From what I can tell Sant was a moderator for this game but has been MIA from Speedrun.com for over a year. I moderate plenty of other horror games and can do the same for this game given I know the genre well.
If Sant ever returns he'll be re-modded but for now I'll verify runs for NEN
So looking at the recent Leaderboard change I have a few questions.
-
Why is the 2016 translation the "primary" category? This is the one that pops up as you open the page when it has the least amount of runners. If anything traditional Any% should be available.
-
Why separate Gaijin and 2016? It seems like a better spread would be Original and Translated.
-
Why not just put in a marker similar to Silent Hill 2's bug room which uses a Yes/No on if the trick is used? We can apply the same logic to Translation? and then have it mark Yes/No.
For an already small leaderboard it feels incredibly odd to have it segmented as much as it is
Hi,
Quick question. Is the Tower of Babel Pairs mode leaderboard only available for 1p2c runs? The leaderboard features the dual runners but I noticed the main leaderboard is only solos
So is the rule for starting on 1B solely because the rockets are not guaranteed? Wouldn't this be faster regardless since you wouldn't be required to do 1A?
