I would really hate to roll back my switch save every time I wanted to do a speedrun because of the pods thing, if I had to do that i'd just move on to another game honestly.
I think boost mods should be their catagory, I don't have any problem with them being seperated, I mean I would do a run or two with them knowing it's a different leaderboard for fun.
Having the extended ultimate boost on doubles it's time, so it's a pretty big buff. If they were like the custom parts i'd be fine with it but they get used up and require random pulls in the gacha to get more which makes them random to obtain.
I hate to make threads like this but i've noticed a #1 time is using the consumables for better/faster team ultimate rates and I disagree on using these since it's modifying the default settings, you also only get those from the gacha machine so using them in runs would require farming them each attempt.
I just want to bring this up since the rules talk about default settings but nothing about the modifiers.
Go for it, tsr is the first speedrun I have submitted with added up times instead of just real time so if I forget something i'm sorry about that.
edit glad you noticed my mistake on one track, I accidently used first place and not my second place time. oops.
That online calc seems to work a lot better then the spreadsheet did, thanks! excel did not seem to like the 100ths on the end of seconds and it was adding up poorly for me.
How are you all adding up the race times correctly? I noticed the miliseconds are up to 100 but the minutes and seconds is normal, so it's not adding up correctly in excel.
I must have missed those options! never knew!
Defaults would have to be the standard.
I was just saying, you can see it. TSR handles time attacks rather poorly.
You get your best lap time when you end a TT.
It's not all tracks but I have something like 1:17 for all cups on switch, I think all cups is a valid run even if it lacks the eggman courses.
I think just having real time with a filter for platform would be fine for now, sure it's a shame the switch takes 4 seconds longer to load then ps4 and the pc is near instant but at least it can be filtered, pc will always be favored unless we all take note of 21 track times, I don't see it being that competitive yet.
Just want to add in that the switch version does also come with the shredder as a weapon but only digitally.
I'd like to take a shot at this some day, still enjoying my casual playthrough heh.
Good to know, I thought I had done something wrong submitting a run earlier and ended up submitting again.
Not everyone has access to good, or even basic internet speeds you know.
Try using a free video encoder package like freemake to render the file into a smaller size, drop it to 30fps if you don't need the full framerate, if the game isn't a very fast moving game you can get away with a low bitrate to make the file smaller. It probably doesn't need to be 1080p or full res either unless you have some amazing first place time, you would want those as legit to watch as possible.
Still early days but tails can be very helpful so we'll have to see how things evolve I guess. Things you can use tails for:
Hitting eggman and minibosses early/up high using his flight Hitting the capsule in the sky early Carry sonic to a ledge you might not normally be able to reach alone
Also with &knuckles enabled you can make him glide with the same up and jump input, but he can't carry you so not as much use.
It's a mixed bag because a digital copy can also be on a HDD or SSD where some games (like arkham asylum) load several times faster, consoles vary with an SSD but they tend to show improvements too.
If you are serious about getting the best times you would most likely buy the best version for the job, seperating a game by pal and ntsc is a something that has been going on since the beginning of gaming, digital is still rather modern.
iOS devices can be wired with their charge cable to a mac and mirror the screen to the computer, if you have a mac you can capture the screen. You can also buy charge port to HDMI adaptors if you want to send the signal to a capture card or your tv.
But for a game where you need to move around outdoors you would have to carry a laptop with you which is impractical.
You could import a 60hz nintendo 64 and the game if you were serious about getting top times, otherwise you can still speedrun with the pal version but remember you'll be somewhat 17% slower overall.
It's that or emulation.
To speedrun with a timer I would say Arkham Asylum on 360, then on pc as I was getting better.
As a kid I tried to beat Sonic 1 SMS in under an hour to earn some pocket money, I don't remember if I ever did get some or not.
