Thank you so much! I've been looking for an accessible way to try this game out and did not want to commit to buying a N64 or running a full game category.
Could we get that to a "never change" instead of a "right now" please?
There are some things that could be improved about the API in a V2 so I wouldn't wish for "never change"
Hello, I was interested in speedrunning Prehistoric Dude ( https://www.speedrun.com/prehistoric_dude ) and noticed that the current and only super mod (Rubutik) was no longer interested in running the game and had his account inactive for a month. Instead of waiting the >3 weeks for him to not verify my submitted run and then bothering the site mods, today I asked him on Discord if he would make me super mod. He agreed and said he would transfer it over to me. However, he attempted to login to his SRC account but was unable to receive the verification pin email (note: this attempt made his account now say "last active 1 hour ago" despite not being able to login). He told me to instead contact the site mods to help me instead, so here I am, contacting the site mods anyway lol. Here is a screenshot of our DMs https://imgur.com/a/vhSpjrB
Hi I just picked up this game and thinking of doing a run or two. I like the existing rule of using LiveSplit over the in game timer because the in game timer stops whenever you pause or use the inventory which is undesirable. Some suggestions I have are: -Time starts when the file is selected -Time ends on the last hit of the final boss -100% runners need to show the "100%" progress before their video ends. Runners may get 100% after they complete the game, which means that time now ends upon collecting the last collectible they need -Because there is no loading times, we should use real time as the primary timing method. We should have the precision be just seconds (no milliseconds) as it seems unlikely there will be many ties
MisterMan has done a Any% No Jump where you dont jump at all. Perfect for players who dont want the physical requirements of bunnyhopping or super jumps.
dog mentioned Monkey% which I like the idea of.
There is supposedly a monkey in every level and the idea would be you have to reach the end of the level with the monkey in hand. It would be interesting because you you cannot put it in your inventory and would have to parkour with one less hand.
Haven't looked into routing to know if its possible or even fun.
Alright how about another feature request regarding runner profiles.
Add the ability to highlight the runs you want while all the other runs go to the bottom. If I have a run that I am super proud of, I can select it to show at the very top of my profile while meme runs where not much effort has been put in will be at the bottom as they are not as important. This would probably work better on a per game basis for IL runs.
Example:
@Liv Alright you have changed my mind on the matter. My post was directly made to combat the "Free WR" mindset, but I suppose # players is not an accurate metric for the amount of work done on a run.
Feature Request: Add a total runner count next to the ranks of runs on the profile page
Summary: Often when you view a Speedrunner's profile, you may see many 1st and 2nd place ranking runs they have. However, the actual accomplishment they have achieved is not immediately recognizable, as those runs could be of either popular/competitive games, or of obscure/inactive games. To help solve this, include "rank / # of runners" on the runner profile page, as shown below.
This allows a 1st place run like Cheese's SM64 120 run out of 286 runners to instantly be recognizable as an incredible feat while showing that a 1st place Bubsy 3D: Furbitten Planet 100% out of only 2 runners run is not really a big deal.
I vote yes. The more that is visible to the veiwers/verifiers, the more legit the run is.
Feature Request: Add a "Community Best" time on the IL leaderboards page
Summary: This adds an extra row to the bottom of the ILs grid which contains the total time of all the ILs for each category.
Pros:
- A speed community can not only compete with each other for IL WRs, but that can also be compelled to cooperate to improve the Community Best time. "As a community, can we get to sub 20? Lets work together to make this happen!"
- At a high level, this seems very simple as its just adding all WRs and displaying them
Cons:
- Compared to full game runs, this time would not be accurate for games that have time out of levels, such as hub worlds and menus.
Example:
Hi SpectreXS, I plan on doing some IL runs of this game. Can I be a mod so I don't have to bother you every time I submit?
I feel having the speedruns and the highscores under one page for each game is the best way to do it. The highscore people and the speedrun people share the same goal of "being the best at a game" so I think having them both will bring the two communities close together.
