The Altars of Lilith bonuses are account-wide. You can't reset them or disable them. Are all runs assumed to have all the Altars of Lilith collected?
I've mentioned this a few times in videos and to people otherwise. But, if you really want the fastest times for this game, you should run the Mac version of the game. It was discovered a couple years ago that the Mac version features bunny hopping for some unknown reason. It seems that the port somehow re-enabled that figure since it was specifically removed from Deleted Scenes. There are several skips that were shown in the video of the game on Mac. Plus, all movement is faster elsewhere.
Edit: Found the video:
Quagnoth uses an item out of his inventory at 23m 45s into the VOD. You wouldn't have this item on a NG run. So, this run should be invalid. Correct?
Link with timestamp to the VOD:
There was a Lucio speedrun challenge recently. My friend of mine, PlasmaNapkin, won. So, I came here to check to see if you guys has any Lucio speedrun records or had a board for them. It seems you do not. FeelsBadMan
Here is his run. It is pretty awesome.
I was watching this video for Super Mario 64 when he started explaining something that seemed familiar. He explains what they call 'parallel universes' in SM64.
His explanation is very similar to an exploit we use in Portal called Save Glitch where we separate the 'camera' from the 'hitboxes'. In this case in SM64, they use 'floor detection' and 'Mario's position', but the concept seems to be the same.
Check it out. Jump to 10:45 directly here: youtu.be/kpk2tdsPh0A?t=645
So, could there be some similar kind of calculation error going on? Converting between different numeric types and causing an overflow so that we aren't bound to our 'floor position' anymore?
I saw the AGDQ run, and I've compiled a list of comments below on the run.
To give some background to myself, I played L4D1 a lot. Easily over 2-3k hours. My account only has around 800 hours tracked, as that time tracking feature was implemented after L4D1 was released. I was going to play on a CPL L4D team, but both CAL/CPL died, and L4D2 was announced shortly after that, killing the competitive scene for L4D1.
I helped some people work on some TAS/TSA of L4D1 back in the day. Also, I know a lot of the glitches/tricks throughout the various versions (like turret launches, endless melee, etc). Let me know if you guys are looking for any optimizations. I mostly know the L4D1 Versus maps (which have differences from Single Player), but I remember when they patched those things in Versus (and not in SP), so I recognize the differences.
Lastly, do you guys have a Discord channel?
AGDQ Run Comments:
- I found it strange that you didn't use the shortcut on Blood Harvest 3 by going up the hill after exiting the tunnel. I also believe you can skip the bridge falling down scene, but I forget the mechanics of it.
- You didn't use the shortcut of jumping over the semi in Crash Course 1.
- You mention needing to get an Auto-Shotgun for The Sacrifice 1, and checking various locations is key. However, you miss at least 2 places it can spawn, right near the start of the map.
- I'm almost positive that skipping the tank in The Sacrifice 1 is possible. I know from experience that the tank can miss-spawn and die instantly on that map. But, I'm fairly certain you can simply go over the train car and skip the event.
The runs that I have no longer show the Splits.io display under the run. Was the display removed?
There is an exploit that allows you to gain an increased amount of quest experience. You can see an explanation of one place to use it in this video [starts at 1:28]:
However, it does require you to leave the game, and re-enter on a higher difficulty (you can do it only using Campaign mode, despite what the video said). I did a little testing. You can only raise the difficulty in the pause menu from Normal to Hard. It won't allow you to change it any higher. But, if I leave the game, I can change it up to Torment 6 (tested this in Seasonal, since I have no other Seasonal characters). So, logically, the highest difficulty the game can be played on a non-NG+ run is T6.
So, before I do more testing, is leaving the game (not restarting Diablo 3, but simply leaving the server) to change difficulty allowed? It will substantially change how I run this game.
Sidenote: My first run for Barb NG was 2:55. :-) There are some more exploits now involving Leoric's crown, but those are definitely allowed.
I've played through the entire game several times so far. My times have been around the dev's time (dev time is 1:20:00, I've gotten around 1:25:00). So, to actually speedrun this game, I went ahead and spent the last few weeks making routes for this game: http://pastebin.com/w0W84q6B
It took quite a while since there are so many levels. Plus, you have to make sure the routes are viable for a full-game speedrun (as opposed to IL). I'm currently taking my notes and making them into videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr26ZL5CAdZWvhHSFD3-DbqLybfuJVaQc
As I'm going through and making the videos, many levels I've updated the routes so they are easier or faster than my initial route I had in mind. So, keep watch as I upload videos. I could always use feedback!
Additionally, especially in the later levels, I do make sure to hit checkpoints as those are invaluable if you make a mistake, which happens for many reasons in this game. I'm estimating sub one hour for this game. I'm sure after running these routes, I'll refine the routes more and slowly reduce that time.
Once I get to the run phase, I'll be streaming it on my Twitch channel: http://www.twitch.tv/demonstrate86/
Looking forward to seeing who else might want to get involved! :-)
