This problem has been ongoing for over a month and now it's just ridiculous. When I follow the game, I expect it to be shown in the category "followed games". Although such games are shown, the visit count and the last visit date are stuck and even if I visit the page of that game, that visit won't count. Previously, I'd accept the fact the server needed to record such a visit to add to the visit count and to update last visit date, but recently it just doesn't update that all anymore. Because of that it can happen that even if I visit the game's page to submit the run, the last visit date won't be updated. That can lead to the weird scenarios where I have some runs submitted in one game days after the alleged "last visit". Before anyone claims anything, no, I didn't unfollow the game during that time and it remained followed during that entire time.
Hi. As some sort of my input in the speedrunning community I think I'd like to suggest an optimal strategy in beach volleyball. It's already been discovered that the optimal strategy in terms of service would be to serve a float, very close to the net, allowing the opponents to spike at the 3rd touch. But I've noticed that the top runs mainly focus on receiving that spike and then attacking for a pretty easy point. But I think my strategy is better and allows more time to be shaved off. I believe that blocking that spike instead of receiving it saves more time. Of course, to block a spike, you'd need to be in the correct position and have correct timing so that the spike doesn't avoid a block. It might be riskier, but I feel that if you block all 20 times, you're gonna save 3,5 seconds per point. Do it 20 times and you have 1:10 of a timesave. It may be more difficult due to the technical aspects, but perhaps if that's what it takes, a sub-35 could be pulled off in Easy%? Not that I'd do that since I'm not that skillful yet, but if the top runners went for it, the 35-minute barrier could be broken.
So far I've been uploading all my runs on my YT channel. I had no issues with that. I'm definitely keeping them on the channel. But there is an issue. YouTube seems to be pretty aggressive with anti-adblocking. And sure, I do have uBlock Origin which works nevertheless. But I don't think I tried using it on YT while being logged in on my account. You could call me dumb, but I was actually worried YT would ban my account for using an adblocker. And that'd mean all the runs would be lost. At the same time though I'd really want to upload videos from my Mac as I use it to record the speedruns from X360 games. Yet I don't feel like disabling an adblocker on YT, hell nah. And I don't think YT app exists on Mac. Thus I've been looking for some alternatives. Twitch would be ideal if it wasn't for a fact I'd have to have some livestreams to meet the requirements to even be able to upload videos there. And since my first livestream was awful, I requested my account deletion. I looked for some alternatives, but they were either not good enough for the "free plan" users, were decentralized, had too much to do with cryptocurrencies or straight-up had too controversial content. I know some would say speedruns uploaded to Google Drive would be accepted as well (or at least in most cases), but I don't want to use too much of it for speedrunning. 15 GB isn't too much and could be used for much important stuff. Am I actually stuck at YouTube? Aren't there any alternatives? Also, if you want to recommend me any alternative, it better not be Odysee.
As I've recently been considering a switch from YT to Twitch, I kept in mind that YouTube Frame Timer, which is very useful for retaining speedruns uploaded to YouTube, may not work on videos published on Twitch. So I have to think about the potential frame timer that'd work on Twitch videos. So what could be the possible equivalent of YouTube Frame Timer for Twitch videos? It'd be great if at least such one existed since I don't really want to download the video just to retime the speedrun.
Since I’m considering speedrunning some mobile game which could take over 1,5 hours, there might be an issue while recording. My phone has a max file size limit of 4 GB. Obviously, the screen recording app recording size limit can be set to the max possible limit which depends on the device (in this case it’d be 4 GB). As I’ve noticed, 4 GB is around 1 hour and 20 minutes of a recording. That means the rest of such a speedrun would be in a separate file. Tl;dr one file would be the first part of the recording lasting for 1 hour and 20 minutes and another one would last for around 20-30 minutes. Let’s say I’m uploading both these videos on YT. And I’d like to give links to both parts in a run submission. Would I be allowed to do that or would such a run be rejected? If the second option is the case, then should I consider live-streaming that attempt?
From what it appears to be, this problem seems to be present on Samsung Internet Browser as browsing the very same website via Chrome or Firefox didn't have the same issue. So the thing is that from time to time the nicknames of some speedrunners in the "latest runs" tab may be invisible. Normally the solution is to hold the finger on the nickname as if you were meant to tap on it but not to tap it. Just to hold it (unless you want to check the speed runner's profile). As I've said, that issue is present on Samsung Internet Browser exclusively. The question is whether I should switch to Chrome or Firefox not to experience that issue. Out of curiosity, if that issue is exclusive to Samsung Internet Browser, do you think you'd be able to fix it?
There are 2 different versions of the game: free and premium. As the name suggests, in the premium version you won't get ads. However, in case of the free version, after level 4 you'll be given a choice either to watch an ad to unlock the next level or to buy premium version. As there are 17 levels in total, you'll be forced to watch 13 ads in order to unlock all the levels. You can't play the game offline as clicking the button to "watch the ad" while being offline won't load the ad and therefore won't load the next level. So playing offline in free version isn't an option. Since 13 ads would mean around 6,5 minutes of a timeloss in comparison with the premium version just because of having to watch the ads, how would the time spent on watching the ads be considered. If they're watched just to unlock the levels, would it be ruled out or would it be included in the final time? If the ad doesn't get included in the final time, how much of the ad time would be removed from the final time? Just from the point the ad begins or already at the screen showing the option to watch the ad to unlock the next level? Of course, if the ad was watched in any other purpose than unlocking the level, then it'd be included in the final time, but the ads that must be watched in order to unlock the next level could be an issue.
I have an idea for a new category. It'd be the NG+ category. The timing rules would be the same as for the Any%. But that'd refer to RTA. I'd suggest IGT as a main timing method in NG+ as that'd eliminate the potential time gain by faster loads. IGT would be a total sum of the IGT times of all 18 tracks. In NG+ you'd be allowed to use whatever the Speedor you'd like to use.
As you've probably noticed, there isn't any day without a bot on src. Everyday there'll be some thread completely irrelevant to the section of a forum. Sure, the bots deletion thread exists and the bots are almost usually banned after such a report. But don't you think it just isn't enough to stop the bots? They keep coming back. I don't really know what the requirements are at signing up at src, but perhaps some Captcha verification should be implemented while signing up? Like it should be mandatory for everyone. And speaking of the bans, wouldn't the IP bans be more effective than just banning the account? I know an IP address could be changed, but at least that would lower the chances of the bots coming back. Just slightly, but perhaps that'd be a better idea than just the account bans.
While looking at the categories, I haven't found the 100% category. I'm aware Any% runs can already be exhausting, but could the 100% category be considered for an addition? The timing start and end would remain the same, but the conditions one would have to meet would be to complete all adventures which means 3 basic adventures (like in Any%), 8 intermediate adventures (in Any% half of it is needed), 8 expert adventures (in Any% half of it is needed) and The Ultimate Treasure adventure.
While playing the game for the 1st time I couldn’t help but notice world 8 was weird with one thing. Every single level of that world except for the first one was starting with a death and therefore with a level restart. At first I thought it could just be an issue for Android. But playing story mode on iOS proved me wrong. The same phenomenon kept happening. It didn’t matter to me that much since I could still finish the game. But speedrunning world 8 only became quite a big issue. Not only that, but also restarting world 8 run would initially stop the countdown because of the “death.” Another run restart would spawn me out of bounds and therefore I’d have to die to be spawned in a proper starting point. I’m writing about that since it affects world 8 speedruns quite badly with an independent 1-2 sec time loss per each level whereas the only run of the world doesn’t seem to suffer from the bugged deaths. In the attached video you can see why I’m concerned about that. My gameplay is quite cringe, but it’s not worth any focus for the sake of the bugged deaths.
On some leaderboards I could see some runs are labelled as "has splits". But when I click on the run to see the splits, I can't see them anywhere. Is it just a glitch or is it somewhere I haven't checked?
After the most recent update whenever I try to search for the X360 games, it's only good until page 1. Trying to go to page 2 of the search resets the platform to "any" and therefore instead of showing page 2 of X360 games the browser shows page 2 of all games registered on src. Such a thing wasn't a case before the update.
I know it may sound like a weird question, but I'd like to ask about that thing. Since I've noticed that a screen recording for at 5 minutes on iPad takes 1 GB, I've been thinking about editing the video so that the uploaded video features just an actual run. But is one allowed to actually allowed to edit videos with a run? If yes, then to what extent so that the run isn't rejected for a suspicion of splicing? The case is that the original recording features the run along with failed attempts and the edited video to be uploaded is meant to only feature the submitted run. Would I be allowed to edit the video in such a way?
At the time of writing this there are some ILs where the runs have been submitted with the "time" section and didn't have their times put in the IGT section (where it's necessary). This already makes an issue where the runs with their appropriate times being put in "time" and not in "IGT" will be treated as if were the best on a certain IL even if in fact they're not beating the actual WRs. Surely, the times could be manually sorted by IGT by the user. However, in all ILs' leaderboard it can create an issue as in one IL the "WR" doesn't correspond to the correct WR just because the "WR" is set by the "time" and not "IGT".
I've been thinking about moving from YouTube to Twitch. Still not sure when it's gonna happen, but I feel it might be soon. As much as I'm not really worried about transferring the content of my channel to my account on another social media, I'm worried about how that's going to affect my runs. I already have 100+ runs, so it'd be cool if I could retain them all on the leaderboards. Do you think that changing the video link should do the thing when the run is already verified or will it have to be retimed? What should I do to retain the run when transferring the video to another social media? I already got to know with a thread from 3 years ago regarding retiming the runs on Twitch, but it hasn't been promising. Especially since there was nothing about a tool that'd work like YouTube Frame Timer for the YT videos. Has anything changed within that time? Is there currently something like YouTube Frame Timer but on Twitch? If not, then how should I properly retime my runs?
There's no doubt the matter of the longest reigning records is a popular topic. But I'm also wondering about the matter of the benchmark times. It won't be anything new (at least for me) to say the not-so-popular games are going to have categories with no runs yet, waiting for the first run to be submitted. However, I'm thinking about the first runs of the categories in the most popular games in case of speedrunning. How long did they usually stay on the top for? What are the most remarkable "benchmark runs" that stood at the top for a long time before anyone else beat such a WR?
As it's commonly known, games run on iOS have faster load times in comparison with their Android versions. UR2D is no exception to this. As I've decided to compare the load times between iOS and Android in UR2D by running one of the secondary categories so that I could wait with the next race until the video of the approved run reached the same point as I did. What I've found out was that the load time difference is around 0.3-0.6 seconds per each track. Since the game is available on various platforms and the load times can be different on each of them, I'm suggesting that the full game runs (unless it's stated in the category rules that IGT counts) should be timed by LRT and that in such a case only the black screen with the word "loading" should be considered a load. The runs that have been submitted in the categories like Time Trial% or the secondary categories with the real life timing would have their time converted into RTA whereas their LRT would be retimed later on.
How about adding the Daytona 500 category? Since Daytona 500 is probably the most important race in NASCAR and Indy 500 category is already a thing, probably adding Daytona 500 would be a cool addition. Of course, it'd have similar rules as in Indy 500 (AI level higher than 70, 200 laps, starting from last, tyre wear 1, soft tyres, no boost), but instead of Formula Speedway cars there'd be stock cars.
I've read some forum posts before writing this one. Apparently, the runs that have been submitted in the category that previously existed and now don't exist are visible on the profile. But if there's an attempt to watch a run, it's impossible. Technically, those runs still exist in the audits. Is it kind of possible to delete those runs if they were submitted by me or not?
