Thought I may as well make a 100% TAS too. If timed with current RTA timing, the run would be 4:35.367 (8,261 frames). The game does lag pretty hard on the intentional death, though, so I'm only going by how many frames are shown on the tool.
Using the TAS tool Celia, and with a lot of help from its developer gonengazit to make Ascent compatible, I was able to put together this TAS for any%. To make it compatible, zooming out the camera was required, so it looks a bit wonky. I also got help from Meep_Moop to get an accurate timer in PICO-8 itself. The timer starts a bit later than current RTA timing, so if it were timed from first Z input on title screen, the run should be 3:35.467 (6,464 frames).
For whatever reason, whenever I change the game cover, it doesn't update on peoples' profiles. It does update on the leaderboard itself, so I'm not sure what is going on here. The game is ElecHead, if anyone wants to see the problem first-hand. Is there anything I can do to fix this, and has anyone else run into this problem?
so the game is finally released! there are 2 endings to this game, the main ending (any% basically) and one which requires gathering 20 of the main collectibles. however, there are the palette collectibles which don't count towards that, so i'm not sure if that category would classify as 100% or not. if anyone else is interested in running this game, i would like to hear your thoughts. for now i'm titling the 20 collectibles category alternate ending, but i'm open to any changes
Instead of putting Babe of Ascension (or any other custom maps) on the main leaderboard, they will be put here: https://www.speedrun.com/jump_king_custom_maps/full_game
Or you can click the "Modifications" tab on the left under "Statistics" and it will link there as well.
Made a Discord server for the game. If anyone is interested, here is the link. https://discord.gg/SXHnT535Xr Can discuss miscellaneous categories, post when you pb, ask questions, chat, or whatever else there.
You may notice all the times on the leaderboards have been lowered. The timing method has been changed. Time no longer ends on the final picture after credits; instead, it now ends when the screen goes black after the laptop scene.
The main reason for this is it's a bit difficult to accurately time the last picture, since (if it is done quickly) there is no visual cue, and the only cue is the camera noise, and some submissions do not have sound. Some past submissions as well have used the new timing method, and cut the video before credits, making it previously unverifiable.
This was an agreed decision by both mods (me and Shadnic). If anyone has a disagreement with the change, feel free to voice it. Good luck on your future runs!
Faithpath's run didn't complete the game to 100%, so why was it put in the 100% category? Also, it should be noted their time is not 2:25, it's 2:26.53 (even though the title of the video says otherwise, but according to the leaderboard timing, it shouldn't be 2:25).
https://discord.gg/qMfaBgG It was initially made for the original Meat Boy, but I thought I'd link it here in case anyone wanted to talk about the Map Pack there too.
Might as well post this here like I did with my 100% segmented run. I added music this time, but unfortunately still couldn't add in-game sound effects. Better than nothing though.
I also discovered a very minor route change for Factory. Instead of completing 11-13, it's faster to complete 11-12 then exit and complete 14. It seems pretty obvious, but for whatever reason I just realized it. Also didn't expect for it to go sub 3:00, but I guess I underestimated the power of really fast menuing.
Anyway, hope it's fun to watch or something idk man:
For anyone interested, I made a 100% segmented run. It can definitely still be optimized, but I simply just didn't want to work on it anymore. It still utilizes some good strats, though, and I think it gives a good idea of what a good run could look like.
Unfortunately couldn't add sound to the video without the music not meshing together, so I just decided to mute it.
Nonetheless, here it is:
