For those of you who run BH2 on the PS2, my first question is: I know that enabling "Fast Disc Speed" will help improve run times, but what about that second option? I believe it's Texture related or something of the like? Will that hurt my time at all to enable it to smooth out the graphics a tad?

And secondly, my more important question: Which of the button layout options is closest to the US version RE2? Where 🔲 is run, ❌ is open doors/shoot, ⭕ pulls up menu, Start pauses, etc etc? Or does a controller scheme that matches the US version even exist in BH2? Please...tell me it does...please lol. I just slapped it on real quick for the first time earlier, and the controls threw me WAY off.

Is showing splits for EVERY door in Leon A required? Or can it be splits such as RPD > STARS Office > Ada shot, etc etc?

Bc when I dl'd the autosplitter it had those splits already on it.

Hey guys! Just curious if anyone with experience running both the console PS version and the recommended Emu PS version finds the Emu to be an accurate experience? Like there aren't any glaring issues are there? Idk what it is (probably 20 years of nostalgia) but I have a real soft spot for the PS version lol. The blocky graphics, the sounds, the whole ambiance it imparts honestly. I don't wanna order an import PS2 though, having just sold my US SCPH-70012. Thanks for any info!

Never thought the day would come where I'd own a Vita (or regular Psp for that matter lol). I'm wondering what is unique about this version? It's just a direct port of the PSOne version just w/ faster loads, correct? Will I be able to get Biohazard 2 for it, or just RE2? Other than the 5.99 to download it am I looking at any other costs to play it? Not planning on capturing any runs to submit, I just look forward to having a version to play again. Have been without any systems since around March! :/

Was looking to run this soon, and was wondering if there are any emulators that are good for practice until I can get another snes? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure we've all been there at some point. Whether bc of time, tragedy, or various other "life" circumstances, the time or ability to run your fave game just isn't possible or presenting itself, and the itch finally starts to get to you :(

Me personally, I made some...dumb decisions that led to me moving to 3 different places in one year, thus not holding a stable job. Had to sell things to stay afloat, which finally led to my PS2 and N64 (both for playing my main game, Biohazard 2). I haven't had a run in about 5 months now, and thus haven't followed as closely either. I recently logged back in after the RE2 remake was announced, and just feel so discouraged. Some brand new names/times on the boards and I feel like I'm left behind haha.

At least I have til January to get a PS4 for the REmake! Once I get a new system I'ma do my damndest to never experience this again! It sucks! Lol. What do you guys do when circumstances arise and inhibit you from running? I figure all I can do is maybe study some obscure areas of the game and gleam what knowledge I can so maybe I can come back with some new tricks haha.

I believe I once asked what was the difference between running BH2 on GC or Wii, and the general consensus seemed to be that the difference would be barely discernible.

Since that time, it was brought to my attention somewhere (cant recall where) that the Red JAP Wii was slightly faster, I believe loading wise. Can any experienced GCN runners shed any light on this? Is it just placebo effect, or does anyone know personally if there's something to it?

Hey gang, Im taking the plunge and picking up a Switch tomorrow, and Odyssey will be my first title purchase. I'm going to be playing for fun initially, but I know eventually the time will come to speedrun it haha. My question is, if I'm picking up a US Switch, and a US copy of Odyssey, will I be able to switch it to Japanese for speedrunning when the time comes? Is it done through a menu or something? Or will I need to acquire a JAP copy of Odyssey? Thanks in advance, and please forgive my ignorance on the subject! Lol ?

Just chiming in something that may already be known, but it certainly wasn't to me, and finding this out stopped me from throwing away a PB so I felt I should say something lol.

If the glitch happens where G4 grabs Leon while on top of the tubes and gets you "stuck" up there...it isnt run over! If you can manage to kill him, simply attempt to run into the elevator area anyways and it should still trigger. Note that I was on US PS version (Dual Shock) in case this doesn't work on other versions.

So, picking up SM64 earlier last month oddly rekindled inside me my old love for Nintendo and Mario, which Ill admit had been quite dead since Sunshine (I know its revered in the SR community, but honestly I thought it sucked, and Galaxy lost me with motion controls...as did the Wii as a whole lol). So after watching some Odyssey runs I thought...why not?! Christmas is coming up, Ill treat myself to a new console :)

Some questions I have before committing, is the Nintendo-licensed Pro controller the best one, or are cheaper options such as the one Hori makes sufficient? I dont see myself wanting to play with the Joycons seperated, nor attached bc the joysticks are WAY too tiny. Also, does the Pro controller use the same input to the Switch as a charger would? I guess Im asking would I be able to use the Pro and charge the Switch in handheld mode at the same time lol. Ima lazy fuck, and 90% of the time I foresee me playing this in bed, by my charger.

Secondly, any other "essential" accesories you Switch owners find necessary after having one for awhile?

Do these exist? Im interested in running RE2 on my recently bought JAP 64, but finding it doubtful I'll have much success on a regular N64 controller. Any input is appreciated!

Hey gang, had a question about the DC times. The top times are all just above an hour in length, and I'm wondering why that is? You cant skip doors or cut scenes, so how is it that the DC top times are like 7-8 mins faster than PS times? Does the DC load that much faster? Bc I had read it actually loads slower than a PS1, so PS2 times should be much quicker then, so what gives? Thanks in advance for any info, looking to start running a second version soon, and I'm compiling info to make a decision soon.

I was just wondering what your guys stances are on these gaming chairs that PC gamers use (I know alotta streamers use them, but I first noticed these kinds of chairs being used by like eSports teams n stuff haha). Do you guys think they're actually worth the money over say just using the best chair you have sitting around the house? Are they worth the cost? And if so, what are some brands/models you guys would vouch for and/or say to avoid? Kinda thinking of picking one up for Christmas, but find it hard to believe they'd be that much superior than just a plain old computer chair/dining room table chair lol

I finally secured a system and picked up the game, and its destroying me. Like I feel like moving Mario isnt intuitive AT ALL and I'm struggling just to do basic things, I feel like even when I played this as a child it went better than this.

Does anyone have tips/activities for someone just starting out to familiarize themselves with movement? Other than "just run around in the courtyard"...Ive done that quite a bit, but it doesn't translate when you get into a level and start bonking your ass off lol. I've never felt so discouraged starting a game before :/ I feel like Im missing something. Any tips?

Ps Im sure this is something that's been asked a million times, but I just really wanted to ask bc man...I just had an hour long session and got nothing accomplished. I don't wanna get defeated and give up. Any tips/training methods would be much appreciated. I know all of what Mario can do, I just can't seem to ever know the right tool for the job. Always seem to be running too slow to dive, always diving into slopes when I need kicks, etc etc. So disheartening :(

As some of you may have seen in my recent post, my Vizio wouldnt pick up the signal to the JAP N64 I just picked up, so I had to switch back to an old tube tv. Problem is, the screen is small as Hell and the back of the tube tv is so huge itll barely fit on my dresser lol. So can anyone suggest a good, cheap hdtv that supports ntsc-j signal and is also good for running sd games (aka no noticeable lag)?

Texas, USAConkyJoe896 years ago

Just recently acquired a Japanese N64, and my Vizio hd tv wouldn't find a signal on it. It will run my PS2 just fine, but wouldnt find the 64. And it gave a notice like it could tell something was plugged in, but wouldnt display the picture or sound. So weird. Anyone know why this would be? I just had to bust out my old tube tv and it works fine, but it just sucks bc its so small haha

What are the benefits to a powered splitter? And if Im using say a GV USB-2, I would plug the system (PS2, N64) into the input of the splitter, and then the TV and GV USB-2 into the outputs correct? Im very new to capping, and am still trying to finalize my setup before purchasing anything.

Are we only entered into the donation drawing if we donate today, or are we still entered if we've donated previously?

I think I remember hearing somewhere that this was a thing lol. Anyone know if there are videos of anyone pulling it off?

Will American power/audio+visual cables work on a JAP N64 console? It was much, MUCH cheaper for me to order a Japanese 64 WITHOUT cables (it was literally gonna add $60 just to get a console with hookup cables as opposed to without...wth is up with that?!), so I have the system en route, but now need to pick up the cables. Can I just go down to my local retro game store and pick up US cables and be good to go? I know everything else US will work (Gameshark, Expansion Pack, etc etc), so I dont see why this wouldn't be the same kinda deal.
