Also, can you please tell Rottdawg to keep the discussion on this open forum rather taking it to Twitter DM, just so he can throw around insults and and shit.
If Im gonna get shots fired at me, I would like it to be done in public.
Also I would like confirmation this rule also abides to Toad (or any western speedrunner) and he has to livestream any WR as well.
I typed a lot as a reply, deleted it, re-wrote something else, deleted that and now after deleting my third written rant about this I realize I'm speechless.
Considering half of this fucking community offline grinds runs this year, you would think they wouldn't want to go towards "stream-only" records. But if thats the path you wanna take, sure.
Last time I heard, the live stream area will be right below that huge screen in one of the big halls. There was previous plans to have it in one of the smaller rooms upstairs, but space was not enough.
Bad ending has been added, the others will not currently be added. I understand some of your love categories, but frankly I would like to keep the categories with two runners or less to a minimum, especially for categories that are completely arbitrary (3 game, complete the game 10 times, blindfolded, done by a runner with size 10 shoes, etc). The 5 we have at the moment should be enough. I could consider Best Ending in the future if there is enough request for it.
But this is of course only for the leaderboard and you are okay to run anything you'd like and even submit those runs if they happened to give you a PB in some category. I believe Barnowl used his 3-mode run as a PB video in one of the categories.
I'm just mildly curious why Mega Man 2 was cut, would be cool to get a reason if it was the game, the run, the runner or something else.
Im currently in the process of getting back into Yume Penguin Monogatari, the game is simple enough so low 10 should be no problem on a consistant basis. Endy Averages 10:14 and I average 10:10, so in a race perspective its looking really good.
Regarding Mega Man there is not much to say, the estimate of 25 minutes remain and I can be below that for any situation, including trainwrecks. I will put most of focus on MM1 during June/July in preperation. But with 7000 or so attempts under my belt, Im confident in providing a solid run.
Looking forward to cuts!
Should I submit two submissions if I can consider both solo and race? Lets say I submit a solorun for game X and also a race for game X, is this two categories, one submission for the same game?
A question about races.
When submitting races for ESA does you have to specifically name ALL the other racers or is it okay to simple mention that you are up for a race? Then if multiple people submit willing to do a race, it turns into a race?
Trying to organize a race 5 months before with people that may or may not be going is complicated.

So, this was my first ESA and I had an absolutely amazing time from start to finish. I can't compare to previous years but I will give my 2 cents.
• I loved the practice room being in the outer ring and close to the streams. I know there is some interference and also some runners being bothered. But I personally liked it a lot having both two streams and a lot of the practice so tightly knit together. I regularly took a lap around the Valhall and quickly got an idea of everything that was going on. I knew there was always something to do in the Valhall area. I know some areas felt empty from time to time. But I think that's just something you can expect at certain times. Even main stream was almost empty during graveyard shift. No matter the size of venue you have it's going to be a little less active from time to time.
• The GG button has to make a return. It made the run timings so much more accurate.
• As for the location, with the station/pressbyrån so close and the center of the city really close the other way. It was bloody brilliant. It's a shame people felt mass housing was out of the way however. I stayed at quality prisma hotel and I didn't mind the walk really.
• I definitely support the idea of having a camera over-looking the venue for the times the host has little or nothing to say. There are so many events world-wide that uses this format.
• The "kitchen" was a real mess sometimes. I think people could be a lot better cleaning up 2 minutes after themselves.
• I found the camera angle sometimes being a bit odd, I''m not sure if this was done to make the stream seem more populated when couch took up most of the space on camera. But watching the event day 1 (Didnt reach ESA until day 2) I kinda prefer the centered camera that shows all the audience chairs, rather then the down-wards pointing one just showing couch.
• The yellow stream "open stream" sign-up needs to be a little more organized. Maybe have a submission phase after the main submissions before ESA where people can apply for day 1-3 Open block. Sort of a second chance to get your run in, but you get a "worse" time slot. Also I almost feel there gotta be some kind of time limit. I was not a big fan of 7-10 hour runs taking of an entire open block. I'd rather see some more diversity in that regard.
But overall, the event was absolutely 9/10 and if nothing goes wrong, I will absolutely attend #ESA16. I do hope it is at HoC again.
Yeah noticed, this is good new for me of course. Guess I'm in that SF4 tourney after all. Even if I expect 0-2.
Plaguedmind, Im pretty sure you can come and go as you like for masshousing as long as you paid for it. I kinda recall this even being mentioned somewhere.
I guess I could bring a unmodded PAL Wii, its pretty much original PAL with no homebrew stuff, uses composite (SCART Adapter exists). I dont run anything at ESA, but if its use of anyone, Ill bring it along since its takes like no space anyway.
Hmm, damn shame, I guess it would be bad manners to join the tournament if you can't make finals anyway. Altho, im expecting to get eliminated early if I would join.
Is it correct that the mystery tournament takes place on July 3rd? Im leaving noon on 5th and would like to make sure im actually there when it takes place.
Unfortunately I wont be able to join the SF4 tournament since the finals is after I leave around noon on the 5th. (Finals are 16:30 on 5th). That said Im probably not bringing the arcade stick along in that case. But I'll gladly watch you practice and play before that.
How does open streams work exactly? Can anyone suggest content for that section?
Otherwise its looking good, gonna miss some stuff I wanted to see since im only staying 29th to 5th, but that was expected.
Definitely going to try join the USF4 one. I might be bringing an Razer Atrox arcade stick (360), but its under consideration as it weighs a ton and I got quite a trip. Been a while since I was active with fighting games since speedrunning took over as main hobby. But absolutely would like to try out some of the more recent games that I might have missed.
Is there any more info on that ultra street fighter stuff? Is that tournament at the event for attendees?
Routing Zelda 1 at the moment, trying to find a good way to do 12 hearts safely and easily. But learning CV1 as second game for sure.
