I think it would be a good idea to add a category for the NTSC version of the game due to the run and route being very different. At the moment the runs by peco_de_guile and mikeneslive would qualify for this potential new category and I have also done a run of it as well
The leaderboard for this already exists https://www.speedrun.com/koktey?h=The_Wise_Men-Normal&x=vdo0441d-6njdyjn4.z19xj3y1
I did this recently and it’s sparked a lot of interest in doing credits warps/game end glitch https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r2b3-LXROus I was wondering if we could have a category for it
Hit Marmot isn't a game that loops forever, it has an actual ending after 30 stages. To reflect that I created new categories for each game mode and I left the old 100k category since it already has a nice handful of runners
The way the game works is that the it consists of three rounds and then it goes back to the title screen. That means that the current categories are only beating the first level out of three which means the game isn't considered beat. I have done a basic run of the whole game to show how I think the categories should be :)
I decided to separate zapper runs and controller runs since this game gives the option to use both. Now it’s consistent with other games of this fashion like Operation Wolf and Mechanized Attack
I found a new death warp/wrong warp that takes you from 1-1 directly to 1-3, saving about a minute. The only catch is that you need to game over and start again for it to work. Would this be allowed in runs? And if so when would the timing start?
The WR by xlaml seems to have been removed and I cant find any footage of it online
The zapper community now has an official discord server. Everyone is welcome to join https://discord.gg/yWaCXYs
Before I start Ill say that I was playing on an original PS1 and an official disk. I don't know if this is a glitch that can be triggered or if it was just luck but I was able to fly in Riptos arena without using cheat codes. I was practicing offline and recorded as soon as I could. I used the swimming in the air glitch to get into Ripto early. When I got in the stage Ripto started shooting fire right away while the text boxes were still up. When I re spawned I kept dying in one hit but it seemed that I had unlimited lives. My charging was a glitchy mess and to fly I just used to normal double jump trick but held down the buttons. I know this won't help at all with Ripto but if it could be triggered in other areas I'm sure it could be beneficial
Recently there has been a new modified version of Duck Hunt that is altered to allow it to work on LCD TVs. Since we do not know if the RNG works the same or not and the games speed is changed I, feel that it should be banned. I would like to hear the community’s thoughts on this
Since you can't change the character during the run I think it would be right if there were different categories for the different characters like on the Castlevaina 3 and Super Mario Bros. 2 leaderboards
I'm not sure if this would save any time but here's a new wall clip I found in Simba's Destiny
I have a repro little Samson cartridge and I was wondering if it was alright if I used it in runs since an original cartridge is extremely hard to obtain
After testing the game on the Atari Flashback I noticed that the flashing screen transitions that happen in between mazes is not present. The transitions can take about 3-5 seconds and that would give a massive unfair advantage, especially in the longer runs. I don't think any runs on the board use the flashback but I think it would be a good idea to to ban them before anyone submits a run with it
Can someone please explain how the first place run is an entire second faster than my 5.840? It's the same maze and the same route so it doesn't make sense that its so much faster. Is there something I'm missing or is the emulator used inaccurate to the original system? Any explanation is appreciated

We now have an official leader board for VS. Duck Hunt! https://www.speedrun.com/VS._Duck_Hunt (The arcade version of duck hunt)
All the current duck hunt moderators are welcome to mod this one too, just let me know. As of today there is only one category on the board so Im differently open to suggestions and I can
t wait to see the runs we come up with

At this point, NES emulators have become extremely accurate at recreating the original hardware. However, with games like Duck Hunt and other zapper games, the is no way to accurately emulate a zapper. This means that the only way to play the game is to use a mouse. There is a great difference between aiming a gun and shooting at a CRT tv and clicking the screen with a mouse, its pretty much a different game at that point. So, instead of banning the use of emulators, I think it would be best to create two sub categories. I think we should have one category for Nes and one called EMU. (I'd include the WIIVC in the NES category since there are very few runs. You can see the Super Mario 64 leaderboard if you don't understand what I mean. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

I've been playing this game on a repro cart for a while and I've started doing some speedrun practice and some unimpressive times. I was just wondering if this was allowed on the leaderboard before I put anymore time into learning it. Any input is appreciated, thank you
