Anyways, I'm really confused about most of the tricks runners use. I've seen the start of a GDQ run, paused, and thought to myself: Wait, how'd he just run past that guard?

Yes, I am using the latest version of DOSBox.

I watched a GDQ run of this game and saw the runner skip the entire first level. I play on version 1.4, and I got the game from MyAbandonware.

Wow. That's a lot of replies after 2 and a half weeks of vacation.

So I'm just looking for someone with an average amount of skill in this game.

I finally made it to the Sanctum using this guide http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/botw/routes/any-beginners-guide Also, my weapons are: Royal Guard's Sword, Royal Claymore, Lizal Tri-Boomerang, and the Royal Guard's Spear.

Figured it out, you just need to turn on Global Hotkeys.

So i just got LiveSplit for my PC and tried to run Robot 64 but can't use my splits simultaneously

I've played the game for about 4 days now and things like Stasis Launch are ridiculous to people like me.

@BlipBlo Okay, so I can get shrine of resurrection clip fairly consistently after a bit of time but Bullet Time Bounce is really hard. I can get past the Stasis part of the run pretty easily but the Cryonis part is really difficult. Any tips?
