Would it be possible to see a video of what you are trying?

Yeah sure I'll post a video in a bit

if you use the yellow and blue bomb chemical you can throw it at the bomb and it practically opens up

There's still a problem though. The invisible wall. Sure, it does blow it up, but that does pretty much nothing for you. At most that saves like 1 second in taking the panels off the bomb, as opposed to being able to dissolve the chains like 8 seconds sooner on quest.

does it not work at all or is it a similar situation as first class where it’s just more difficult?

Doesn't work at all in this case.

United StatesAshenfall7 months ago

So this is a similar situation to the whole First Class thing, but Squeaky Clean is just faster on other platforms. PC has an invisible wall that blocks you from activating with the virus thing early, whereas people on quest can practically get the antivirus in before it even fully comes out the doors on the side of the building. Either that or I'm just missing something. Just wanted to ask about this since I feel like there may be some problems with multiple levels being slower on some platforms.

Just throwing this out there because I know some people are bound to be curious.

So, I decided that I'd try to determine the fastest possible time (without loads) in an all missions run. This is only with the current skips/strategies we currently know of, or that currently work. I have found some skips that don't work the same way on PC, and I believe that PC is the slowest version by maybe 8 or so seconds, so keep that in mind.

So I realized that time without loads can be calculated pretty easily. In pretty much every run, the time without loads is just the sum of the time in every level, plus 53 seconds.

Load times can vary for each person, but usually the parts of a level that aren't considered loads are the same for everyone, and take up about 53 seconds. It usually ranges from 52-55, but I believe the only reason it varies is because the timers at the end of each level don't go to the millisecond-you could get a 50.00 or a 50.99 on a level and it would still show up as 50, so it can cause this to change a little.

Anyway, looking at the wr for each individual level, then adding the 53 seconds, we get a time of 7:25.

Though some of these runs weren't done on the PC version, which somewhat recently had an update that removed the ability to do some skips.

The skip in First Class to grab the device early is now 2 seconds slower, and grabbing items within the safe is about 2 seconds slower as well.

I also noticed that in the 1:15 run of Squeaky Clean, the runner is able to grab the lid off of the virus the exact moment he uses the copper dissolver. I have tried this multiple times, and I'm assuming it's a glitch that was patched-though I have yet to do nearly enough runs to confirm this yet. Having said that though, if it was patched, that means it would save about 4 seconds over the PC version.

So, tldr, the (maybe) fastest possible run is a 7:25, or a 7:32 on the PC version. Not sure what it'd be for the PSVR version as I have never played or tested that one. I have been looking around a lot for new skips so if I find something this might change.

So there's that in case anyone was wondering.

Ah I see-Does the time in-between the end of a level and the continue screen also count then?

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

Yeah true, no clue what PSVR is gonna be like. I'd imagine it's probably just the same as the PC or quest version though.

Also damn! That's a lot quicker than I expected, guess I just timed the loading times wrong-Thanks though!

In my honest opinion I feel like a 2 or even 1 second penalty might be best. That way, a perfect run on either platform would both equal out to the same time, there'd be no real way to abuse it. Might also just make things less confusing for separating categories, and since only three runs (that I know of) have done the skip, including the one I just did, it'd be weird to just shove those three into their own category. Especially because then a bunch of separate categories would be needed for the death engine update, seat of power update, and first class update variations of the run, as well as maybe even one handed%, telekinesis%, and EVERYTHING MUST GO% (idk if that category makes you throw the device but if it does then. yeah.)

Or maybe nothing even needs to be done for now. I mean, I lost those 2 seconds, as well as made a lot of mistakes that cost me like 15 seconds in my recent run, so there's still a lot of room for improvement-Though as the runs get closer and closer to perfection those 2 seconds might be more important.

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

I just checked actually, the quest version of the skip is only 2 seconds faster. Still though, that's assuming that you are able to immediately grab it on pc, which usually takes like 5 seconds by itself.

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

I don't really know. I just got a 7:58 run (yet to be verified) by using the skip on PC. It's still possible, just a lot harder, and it takes a lot longer to get the device down to you.

I'd say we might either need to make a separate category for quest and pc maybe, or maybe just give like a 5-10 second penalty to the quest version of the skip depending on how much time it saves over the pc version. Not sure though.

Nope new problem-I have rewetched the runs and the device spawns up much higher in my game than in anyone else's. Like literally for me it's only one or two pixels in VR and you can't even see it on the recording. I mean-What's really tripping me up is that nobody else seems to even know this update exists, there wasn't even an update log for it on steam. Really don't know what's goin on here

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

Found the problem, seems that you can only clip into the safe after pulling the candle now. Still saves a few seconds though so that's nice.

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

Nevermind it's still up there, just looks further up than it did in the videos. Stil not sure about the safe skip but oh well, that one only saves like 4 seconds anyway

United StatesAshenfall11 months ago

So in the current first and second place runs, a skip is used in First Class where they go out of bounds and grab the device thingy from way above the train. Which was simple enough, and saves a lot of time. So I tried to do it in game, and it just…Isn’t there. It doesn’t load in above the train.

An update for the game seemed to have released-I know this because it asked me to choose a language when I booted up the game which it has never done before, and subtitles are an option now, in the update they seem to have patched the first class skip, as well as the ability to peek into the safe in winter break to grab things early. How are people still doing runs with these skips? I even repurchased the game on steam to see if I could roll it back to a previous version but there was no luck there.

thread: Undertale

So I'm trying to install the weapon practice mod using Floating IPS, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. I am using Linux 1.001, and I've tried doing what some other forums on here have said, but nothing works. The program tells me to select a ROM file, but as far as I'm concerned there's not one of those for Undertale. Any help?

Good job, seems there's a new challenger in town. Guess I'll have to get back to running then :)
