Subsea has one turn that bounces you upward and another turn that sometimes does so, but other than that it's fine. I'm okay with either including it or not, but if we don't include it there are other tracks with bugs that we might want to address.

For example, The Island lets you drive on the water without being respawned. The Shiny Suburbs shortcut is more broken than I think it's supposed to be. There might be other bugs I'm forgetting. I'll check and let you know if you want :).

Canyon 42 actually was never uploaded due to some site issues, but here is the link: https://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=11348&p=83119&hilit=Canyon+42#p83119

Let me know if there's anything I can help with ;).

Maybe we could just include the 26 tracks I have on the leaderboard so far. What tracks have you included so far?

I'll set the default laps, then :). For general rules, there's nothing different that I can think of but I'll let you know if something comes up.

One thing we could do is have a mod where we replace each of the 21 main tracks with an add-on. That would make for an interesting Story Mode. And I think we could save the other mods for another sub-game. And since a lot of the add-on music is either the default music or something from the main game, we could add custom music (from opengameart.org or something) like what I do with the add-ons that I play—you can look at my add-on time trials to see if you like the music or not ;).

And I think it's okay if we allow for additional add-ons that aren't in our mod as ILs. My idea was to keep the modded game separated from the ILs. The ILs would be subject to change as add-ons are updated (because I want there to be a sort of up-to-date leaderboard for add-ons in general), but we would also have full runs of Story Mode to our modded game, which may only be updated once in a while. Would people be fine with this?

So for the mod, we can just choose the 21 best add-ons. For the ILs I am ok with what I put on the leaderboard so far, but if someone wants to time trial a different track we could discuss adding it.

As far as karts though, we can choose a few of the well-made karts to put in the mod. I'm uneasy about accepting add-on karts for ILs though, but if someone thinks they should be allowed then we can argue about it lol.

Thanks, I guess if I'm going to self-verify my runs I should be more careful lol

Yes I agree an actual modded version would be neat. After it is made I can adjust the sub-game accordingly. Maybe in the forum for the sub-game we can discuss the details of the modified game.

And you brought up a good point about moderators. Perhaps we should start a thread?

(And also just to avoid any possible confusion, when I said I made everyone super mods, I was talking about in the sub-game lol)

I added a subgame for SuperTuxKart Add-Ons. I made everyone a super mod (except Theodore, it seems you need to enable e-mail authentication to be mod but I'll be happy to add you of course if you choose to enable it) because I expect it to be a lot more casual. I'm also ok with self-verifying runs but if anyone objects let me know.

I included every non-broken add-on that is either featured or in ranked races, although I suppose if you wanted to run a different track we could add it.

I think the way to go with the add-ons would be to have a sub-game called "SuperTuxKart Add-Ons," let me know if you think that's a good idea. And we could definitely add other mods as well. :)

I don't think they are likely to change again. I was the one who updated them, and it was just to add checklines or working offroad to make the tracks unexploitable (which would be important for ranked races). In general I would agree to keep add-ons outside of speedrun.com or at least in the "sub-games" area (I might make a playlist for add-on records), but the only add-ons that are included are the ones that are on a previous version of STK anyway, so removing them would remove regular ILs from older versions. I suppose what we could do is remove the runs from the newer versions. I'll look into the sub-games thing and see if it makes sense to put add-on ILs there.

And I think I was wrong about the super mod thing. I was looking for a way to edit the level in the wrong place. ;)

thread: SuperTuxKart

As some are already aware, several add-ons were recently updated to remove expliots. This includes Blackhill Mansion, Bovine Barnyard, Subsea, and Shiny Suburbs, which are all included in the leaderboards.

This of course means that the current runs for those courses are technically invalid. What I suggest we can do is create a separate category for the older versions of the tracks (which are still available on the add-ons website) if it's possible. We could also just delete the times, but this would not be ideal (and if we do delete them they should be preserved somehow). And keep in mind that this affects not just 1.0, but 0.9.3 as well.

What are people's thoughts on this (especially super-mods since they have the power to change the categories)?

Thanks! :)

One thing to clarify: it does matter what place you get in 0.9.3 GPs, since skips are allowed. I updated the rules accordingly (since I'm a regular mod now ;) ).

Thanks!

Luckily verifiers can edit submissions now, though. ;)

Another thing that doesn't matter as much now since there haven't been any 0.9.3 runs recently, how many AI should you race against in 0.9.3 GPs? It was ambiguous on SuperTux mode because there wasn't Story Mode for SuperTux, but the reasonable assumption would be 5 since Novice is 2, Intermediate is 3, Expert is 4, etc. The rules just say "default" though (which, technically the game starts on 3 AI) and all of the GP runs except for At World's End race against 4 AI (the At World's End one does 5, though).

Sounds good!

Around the Lighthouse says three laps instead of four, for example.

Thanks for this post! I think a detailed explanation of the rules like this is very helpful. A couple of things I'd like to add:

SuperTuxKart is very weird with timing. For time trials (in 1.0), we go by the three-digit time you see when you finish the run. This is different from the two-digit time you see in the top-left corner. This is also different from the time that your replay ghost gets. So if you don't record a live run, show us the screen preceding the replay where it says what time the replay file got (this time is accurate). In general, make sure the video includes the accurate time somewhere.

In Story Mode I believe you don't have to use the timer mod (I think this might be up for debate), but it is in your advantage to use it since it doesn't count loading times. (If you don't use the timer mod, should loading times just be counted?)

Add-on karts are allowed to be downloaded as far as I was aware, since the AI won't use them as long as you select karts from the "standard" category and not the "all" or "add-ons" category?

As for the add-ons, I think it's unlikely that any of the add-ons on the site are going to be updated, considering they almost all of them are former official tracks (with the exception of Black Forest, which won't be updated for other reasons). But if they are updated, at least we'll know, so we can deal with it then. :)

By the way, a lot of the IL rules are out of date (the lap times don't reflect 1.0). Just wanted to bring it to attention ;). I would fix them, but I don't have the power.

Should we clarify the Fort Magma rule somewhere? (If you accidentally restart the Fort Magma challenge, exit to Story Mode. The timer will keep going, but we'll count the run as ending when the loading screen appears.)

GP Rules for 1.0:

Deciding on GP rules for 1.0 is tough for various reasons. Here's what we decided on in the Discord.

Number of AI should reflect number of AI in story mode. Mode should also reflect story mode, so do a normal race for every GP except for To The Moon and Back (do time trial). What place you get doesn't matter, just complete the GP. Giving up isn't allowed, and therefore skips aren't allowed. Use the in-game time.

True, there might be other ways a stuttering video could hide sonething aside from splicing

thread: SuperTuxKart

Thank you for uploading! I have recorded high-quality videos of your time trials and you may upload them on your YouTube channel. Then I can go ahead and verify the runs (I assume Alayan is okay with that). However, discussion on this thread should continue of whether stuttering videos should be accepted in the future, of course. ;)

If we choose not to accept stuttering videos, hopefully you can find recording software that works well with your computer for later runs, but if not, I will be happy to record for you (very easy for me to do).

Yes, I would not have rejected it either personally. I think that of all the ways to cheat, splicing a video and then making it stutter would not be easy to pull off. You'd have to edit the timer and the replay file message that appears at the end, as well as make the splices look realistic. But maybe I'm missing something because I'm not that good at editing videos :-P. Or if we just want to hold record videos to a higher standard then that's a different story.

Just to clarify things to everyone, no one is questioning the legitimacy of Wax's times, the problem is just whether we should accept stuttering videos in general. ;)

As for Wax's times, if the problem is that stuttering videos are suspicious, I think Wax uploading the replay files should be enough. If the problem is quality of videos, Wax can send me the replay files and I can record it.

Still no luck :(. I originally tried compatibility mode for XP, it seems WIndows 95 or 98 don't work either. I'll keep trying things. Maybe I have a better chance of getting it to work on my VM.

Off-topic, though: did you use compatibility mode to install Frog Frenzy 2 or just to play it?

Ok I got the game and there's already a big difference: Safari Kongo won't run lol. With Frog Frenzy 2, I installed it on my Windows XP Virtual Machine and then copied the files over to Windows 10 (it won't install on Windows 10). Safari Kongo was able to install on Windows 10, but when I try to run the game, it says I need to insert the CD, even though I have inserted it. It won't run on my Windows XP either (some DirectX-related error). Any ideas?

(I tried Admin Mode and Compatibility Mode.)
