Forward jumps still move you forward, just not as much. It looks like you got five bumps in that run, which is probably usually enough to make the wrong warp work.

I take a route on 4-2 that gives me four bump opportunities, since I often miss one. On the occasions where I hit two backwards jumps and two forward bumps, it almost always works even with a sloppy pipe entry (i.e. not leftmost pixel).

However, if you think the emulator is doing something differently than the real hardware, a first step might be to record your inputs and try them against a different emulator (e.g. Bizhawk).

Category Name: Warpless No Coins Runners: 1 Rules: Normal warpless rules, with the additional constraint that you not take any coins. Game over + continue is fine, but it doesn't "undo" taking a coin.

Extra Information: I have completed a (terrible) run of this as a proof-of-concept that it can be done. We already have an Any% No Coins category (currently called 'Coinless', but I would suggest relabeling it if this is added), so this would be a nice counterpart for anyone who wants the extra challenge.

The 4-2 wrong warp shouldn't be a problem. I'm shit at the elevator bump, so I go the top route, but either way it should be pretty easy to get 3 bumps after avoiding the goombas.

I haven't experimented much with the pit wall jump on 8-1. Is there a consistent setup for it?

Would you be allowed to get the final coin multiple times? Can probably do it 10-15 times at least before running into time trouble.

I had been thinking about doing this anyway, so when I saw this thread I decided to actually do it. It ended up taking way longer than expected to get a completion because I suck so much at doing the jumps in 8-1, but I don't think it'd be too frustrating for someone who actually knows what they are doing.
