I added some clarification to 100% rules. I Thought that they may help people, who consider running the category (and I personally had those questions, when I first had thoughts on trying it).
This has been asked before by other runner, but I'm gonna bring it up again.
Should reverse tracks be added to Level Leaderboard or not? If people want them, they'll be added.
There is now speedrunning Discord-server for whole Ridge Racer-series. Link to join server:
Upon testing, it was noticed that on ePSXe 1.9.0 FPS sometimes jumps up above 60, making the game run faster. This would be benefitial in runs (A.K.A unfain advantage), so to play it safe;
From now on if you are using ePSXe: Use version 2.0.5 in your runs.
Hello guys! R4 has again more than one moderator! As huge Ridge Racer-series fan who has done all he could to grow interest to game and series, I'm honored to be added as moderator here on R4-leaderbord :)
First of all; huge thanks for @CoopeZz for offering me this position!
Second of all; This board in general is pretty much fine as it is, so I don't think there will be too much need for category additions or rulechanges or clarifications. BUT good and reasonable suggestions can ofcourse always be discussed and considered!
Third of all; I promise to be as active and fast in responding as possible, but mods have their own lifes too (yes: Even me time to time! :D ). Feel free to ask for tips to runs or clarifications to rules if needed! I'm happy to help the best I can!
Let us all have good, cooperative, long, speedy and drifty future here <3 Thanking: ALZERI28
Thread title tells you the rule addition. This is to keep IGT-timing as fair as possible AND to prevent accidental missing of IGT race times, if there happens to be fast enough menuing in runner's end!
It seems that while submitting IL-Run, you will be asked to give both RTA & IGT-time. To avoid any confusion; mark time only on In-game time. If you happen to mark time otherwise, run info will just be corrected accordingly.
I've been thinking for a while should mirrored tracks have their own category on IL-boards. I noticed that both Ridge Racer and hi-spec-demo/Turbo Mode keep seperate records in game and thought that adding them to leaderboards as seperate categories would make 100% sense and they have been added. Good luck to everyone!
For anyone who could be even slightly confused, this board is also Ridge Racers-leaderboard, since that was name of this game in Japan!
Full game runs use in game time as their primary timing method to mitigate load times between emulators and real hardware.
To mitigate re-doing races to get better IGT-finish; your first finished race, where you could continue to next race WILL BE the one time that counts to your run's IGT-time. Your IGT-time will be sum of all your race times!
I remembered now to add clarification to mention seperately that 13" Racing (Devil Car) is banned in Normal Cup and why it is mentioned, due to method of being capable to load game with 13" Racing and being capable to create save file with 13" Racing in it, but no wins at all. This method only works on original game, not in Turbo Mode disc. No current run on board is affected by this!
I recorded video explanation on topic:
Category using this method and allowing 13" Racing in Normal Cup could be added as it's own category.
They weren't on boards yet and I saw nothing wrong in adding them here, after all why not? We already have Turbo Mode on full game side too.
I added clarification to rules of 100%-category to clarify, that you have to win T.T.-race two times. Now first section reads: "Win every race and unlock all cars by winning the mini game when starting the game. This also includes winning T.T.-race once after first credits have played (when there is also black devil car to race against)." No run on board is affected!
Hello, I have recently got myself a PSP, have speedrunned older RR-games like 1 & Revolution on PS1 and would love to expand my RR-games to run. Any tips for direct capturing the game like equipment/capture card recommendations etc. Thanks in advance!

Should we do seperate category for Regular Game-runs, that are played on new game. Of course, loading clean file with no wins and with mini game unlockables, would be allowed so resetting would not be so tidious.
I added some things to old rules, trying to lessen questions, that new players could have. I added things that I was conserned mildly and more, when I myself started to run this game. No rules are changed, no old run is affected by changes. If there are complaints about rules or you need clarification to them, forward your concerns to me.
I realized, that this vesion of 100% could be got in more easily. Rules are:
100% Completion
Mini-game Race Mode. All 3 'Regular' Tracks. Race Mode. All 3 'Extra' Tracks. Time Trial. All 3 'Regular' Tracks. Time Trial. All 3 'Extra' Tracks
Timer starts on first frame of the mini-game (When you can move ship or shoot) Timer ends on crossing the finish line on the last race/time trial
You are allowed to use any car you want.
Races can be done in any order.
You must win the mini-game. You must finish first (1st) in every race and time trial.
It is nice to have 100% as is, but atleast pesronally, it would be nice if there was seperately (sub)category of 100%, that would allow use of all cars. Could it be implemented?
Hello, I have been looking that 100% category for quite some time. I've had interest in testing how well I'd personally do. Just few questions, so there wont be need to worry about it when run is in pending actions or in progress.
- When you FIRST start the run, rule says "Timing starts on first input on the main menu." Does it mean first button press, or can I config my NeGCon first (default settings aren't great for me) and start timer on first grand prix (like when you do on Any% or All Special Machines)?
- If I manage to finish run, is rule more precisely "Stop timing when PAC-MAN-car is showing on screen?
- If run is segmented, do I restart timer, when selecting "Save and Load"? I have been viewing current WR, but asking for in case of I've gotten something wrong! Also if there are any tips or other stuff that's worth noting, I'm listening! Still just in thinking, category is really rough!
What it could be, I've been thinnking to push that (atleast super close) to it's limits, before considering moving into R.T.S/Terrazi and WR-contentsion, let's just say I hate Grip-Type cars :'D. But Yeah, I'm currently standing at 28:43 and know there are bumps and stuff like that.. How low can it be pushed? 28.3x, 28.2x orsomething else?
