Old Versions

Different versions of the game have some different minor bugs. You can check your version in the options menu on the title screen. 

NOTE: The current release, Ver. 3.0, has a bug that makes it impossible to get RUSH during the final boss, and it's impossible to use an apartment key after one usage. I don't know what versions are and aren't affected by this, but I know v1.0.4 is not affected by these bugs.

To download an older version, you can either:
1) Edit your Steam shortcut. Right click on it, and click on Properties. Go to target, and at the end, add ` -console`
2) Open the command prompt, navigate to where you have Steam installed, then run `Steam -console`

Make sure to close Steam entirely, then open it with your shortcut or in the command prompt. You should see along the top there should now be "Console" in big text near Store and Library. Enter the console, and enter this command:

```
Replace X with the ManifestID of whatever version you want. The ManifestID for v1.0.4 is `4170508204381692490`. You can find a full list of them here: https://steamdb.info/depot/573321/manifests/

Once the download starts, wait until it completes. When it completes, it will tell you what folder it saved to. You can run the game from there, or anywhere's you want, including the Steam install directory.

Optimal Text Mashing

If you are using keyboard, you can use the A, S, Space, and Enter keys to advance through text. Personally, I use my right index finger to mash the hell out of Enter, while using my index, middle, and ring finger on my left hand to spam A, S, and Space at a not nearly as fast pace.

If you are using controller, you can use A and X to mash.

Keyboard is recommended over controller for mashing, since you get 4 buttons to mash with over 2.

Potion/Bribe Jumping

When in battle, you can (sometimes) escape by using a potion (or bribing a coin) and jumping at the exact same time, causing you to gain a lot of height. Potion jumps give you more height than bribes, but are more costly. Remember that you need at least 3 stamina to jump, and cannot use a potion if you are already at full health. After escaping a battle with either of these glitches, you can jump as if you were standing on the ground for a few frames (the exact timing isn't known), allowing you to get extra height. If there is a ceiling close above you, you may hit it instead of escaping battle. Some enemies just have an "escape" box too big to be potion jumped out of (most enemies have one too big to bribe jump out of, hence why potion jumping is usually used instead).

Any enemy you can't bribe is recommended to be potion jumped out of instead if possible, but here is a good list:

- Aminoguana miniboss (The purple one): You can jump into a spike pit right before if you are at full health. You will have to get the extra jump after escaping the battle to make it to the platform above with the key

- All of the zombies in World 2: Make sure to jump over/past them so that instead of facing them from the way you came, you're on the other side (if you were running to right, you want to fight them on the right side). If you fail to jump over them before the encounter, you can still potion jump them, but without being able to glide outside, you will just fall back into the encounter on the other side, wasting a potion. If you're at full health, just quickly swing your sword and he will instantly attack you for damage.

- The first 3 Valcanoids in World 3 (The ones that shoot lava walls): Encounter them, attack them so they bring their lava down, and then potion jump out once they are done. The second one doesn't need to be waited on since there is no ceiling above you to shove you into the lava and mess the potion jump end. Make sure to jump in lava before encountering so you don't have to wait on it to hurt you.

Quick Falling and other Small Movement Tricks

**Quick Falling**

If you hold jump while still on the ground, you will instantly start falling at max fall speed when you fall off a the ground. But how do you hold the jump button on the ground without jumping? You can't but there are some ways. 
	1. You can just jump, but never let go of jump.
	2. You can jump, then glide right before you land on the ground and not let go of jump after you land.
	3. If you use keyboard, you can press S and Space at the same time to jump, but then let go of one key but not the other to stop the jump at whatever height you want but still be holding jump to get max fall speed when you next fall off the ground.


**Horizontal Movement Speed**

Your horizontal movement speed has a maximum speed, that you start accelerating to when you start running in a direction. This speed does not change when you jump or glide. Gliding can let you change movement directions much faster than normal, but only once in air before you get normal acceleration again. Running on upward slopes lowers you maximum horizontal speed, but this can be avoided by jumping up them. Running on downwards slopes can increase your maximum horizontal speed, allowing you to run faster. 


**Climbing Ropes Faster**

You can only climb ropes at a fixed speed that is slower than your normal upwards jumping speed. Luckly, you can jump off of a rope and grab back on, and get your full jump height without letting go off up. Just make sure to get your jumping time down. Also an important note is that you can't grab ropes/it is harder to grab ropes if your holding left/right, so let go of them before you push up if you are jumping towards a rope.

RUSH and Potions

The RUSH attack is gained when the cumulative damage you've taken since you've last used it equals or exceeds your maximum HP. For example, you use it while fighting the Moth Queen, and you have a Max HP of 55. She hits you with three projectiles each dealing 6 damage for a total of 18 damage. You have another 37 damage to take before you get RUSH again. Since taking damage to get RUSH faster is abused at a few points in the game, it is optimal to never upgrade your health, weither through a level up or an upgrade pickup, so that the damage you need to take is as low as it possibly can for the whole run: 40.

Potions always heal half of your health, rounded down to the nearest integer. If you have 135 health, it will heal 67 HP. At the base 40, it heals 20. If you need more health for some safety at the end of a run, it is always more helpful to upgrade the amount of carryable potions instead of health because of this, if you can afford it. 

Since you need potions for both healing when abusing RUSH, and for potion jumping, and you can only carry 3 of them by default, make sure to manage them wisely. For a bonus: Potions will fully restore your stamina when used in battle, allowing you to get more hits in.

World 4 Fast

All the passwords can be put in at anytime. Defeating the enemies to get the passwords are unnecessary. Here are the passwords for World 4:

First computer:
       odacova

Second computer:
       dnim
       sih
       ni
       repolretni

They can be easier to remember if you reverse them, but its just far easier to write them down and keep it nearby.
