Delusion Forest - How it works
Updated 4 years ago by xDrHellx

This guide is outdated and needs to be rewritten.

Most people have trouble with this dungeon, so here's a quick guide on how it works, and how to get through it "easily", both casually and in runs :

-- Casually :

Before you enter the dungeon, make sure you're on daytime, otherwise, you won't be able to see Django's shadow. After entering the dungeon, Otenko will start talking, basically, he'll explain how the shadow works in Delusion Forest ;

When you are in that room, you'll see Django's shadow has a different sprite compared to the other dungeons, this is very important, and where the shadow points (up, left, right, down) is even more important, because you're gonna be using this to figure out how to progress in this dungeon.

For example :

If, in the room where Otenko talks, Django's shadow points to Left, when going through the dungeon, it'll mean that everytime the shadow points in a direction, that direction will correspond to the "Left" exit.

Additionnaly, it'll mean that the Up exit will be the one 90° to the right compared to your shadow.

Anyway, things to remember :

  • The room where Otenko talks is ALWAYS the same, so if you're confused, you can just go back to it to check directions compared to the shadow's position.

  • Down / South will ALWAYS be the exit, if you go that way, you'll go back to the room where Otenko talks.

  • The way to go is North, West, West, West, West, North, then South after the ranking screen shows up.

-- In runs :

In runs, we currently reset the game and change the in-game time to get daytime (wich changes some patterns for enemies etc).

Because of this, and because we always input the same time, we get the same pattern for the shadows in Delusion Forest, so basically :

  • In any% runs, the way to go will always be Up, Right, Up, Right, Up, Right, Right, then Down, Right and Left after the ranking screen.

  • If you mess up, the pattern will be randomized everytime you restart the dungeon without restarting the game and changing in-game time again.
