Introduction
The purpose of this guide is to help you setup everything so you can start doing The Solus Project speedruns as soon as possible!
The Solus Project Correct Version
The version we use for speedruns is "411finalbuild", or "1.031" as stated in game. To get the correct version, go to the properties of The Solus Project in Steam, go to the "Betas" tab, and select "411finalbuild" from the betas drop down list. Once that is done, the game should automatically update to the correct version.
Setting Up Save For Starting Speedruns
We use a predefined save file to start speedruns from. This save skips a long cutscene and some tutorials. The save we use can be found in the Resources section, called "NewSave": https://www.speedrun.com/saves/SetupSaves_shqmq.zip . You will want to extract this in the folder "ThisPC\Documents\TheSolusProject\SolusProfile". You may want to run the game at least once to ensure this folder exists. Once extracted, you should have two new folders; "NewSave" and "SaveSlot5". That's all you need to do!
Enable The AutoSplitter In LiveSplit
We use an autosplitter to remove load times and automatically start and split for us. To enable this, right click your opened LiveSplit, click "Edit Splits...", change the "Game Name" to "The Solus Project", and click "Activate" underneath the "Attempts" field. Once that's done, make sure you have the correct amount of splits for the speedrun you are doing and then you'll be ready to go!
Starting And Resetting Speedruns
With everything above set up, only thing left to do is start a speedrun! You can do this by loading save 5 in game. LiveSplit will begin automatically, split for you when going from level to level, and remove any load times. Resetting is NOT automatic, so make sure to make a keybinding for it!
